‘Audrey’s thoughts’
’Ryan’s thoughts’

Audrey's POV:
He keeps following me. Ugh. The doctor said I could go for my classes and that I can contact him if I have any trouble with the ghost.
I don't want people to think I'm crazy. I mean, no one else can see him, so whenever I talk to him they'll see me talking to nothing and then they'll definitely think I've gone nuts or lost a screw or something.
But he keeps talking. I've never seen such a talkative guy. He asks me all sorts of questions, what are all the stuff my phone can do, how I use the electric oven, if robots exist, what swag means. Those kind of questions. I was on my way to my university, I didn't have enough time to answer all of his questions. I plugged on earphones and jammed into my playlist.
He came near my left ear, I could feel his coldness on my cheek, "oh I know this song! I've heard of it." He said excitedly.
"Really?" I asked him. He has never heard of Sony, how's he gonna know about the Backstreet Boys? "Yeah, I've seen some girls singing that song together. They were screeching so loud." He smiled and shook his head. "Tell me why! Ain't nothin' but a heartache!" He sang in a high-pitched voice imitating the girls. I chuckled.
We reached the university grounds. Irene has been anxiously watching me talking to an invisible being. "It's really a strange thing, clairvoyance." She said, in deep thought. I nodded.
"Ryan, stay here. Do not follow me into the lecture room. If you do, I'll... I'll stop talking to you, okay?" I warned him. "Why can't I follow you there?" He asked. "I do not want people to see me talking to invisible man." I answered, looking here and there to see if people were seeing me talk to him. He grunted in reply.
I smiled and walked to my class.
In between the lecture, as usual, I watched the people outside. Some of them were just walking around, some reading, some talking, some were even studying. A hazy figure was punching through a junior student's head, who was peacefully sleeping. Suddenly the figure disappeared and reappeared in front of a couple, peering at them, then making faces at them. Then he disappeared and appeared in front of the window, then he smirked at me.
I sighed and looked at my professor. My professor noticed me and smiled, "ah, miss Barlow is finally paying attention in the class! Please, we need a big round of applause for this!" Everyone laughed and clapped. I smiled knowing she had mistaken me looking at her for paying attention to her. I decided to really pay attention in class, just to make her and Irene satisfied.
At break, me, Irene and Tasneem went to our usual places with our trays. Suddenly, Ryan came beside me and whispered into my ear, "I know that boy." I looked to where he was looking and saw Walter. I pursed my lips. "What was his name again? Walter, isn't it? Not too bad looking." He sniggered. "Stop talking Ryan." I hissed. "Actually, you have a very good taste in men." He continued. "I said stop talking Ryan." I gritted my teeth. He kept laughing at how annoyed I was, "Don't you want me to talk about your endless love letters to him?"
"Shut up Ryan. Just. Shut. Up." I whispered harshly. "Wow Audrey, I've never seen you this irritated, is that ghost hurting you?" Irene asked me with her mouth full. "Yeah, he is." I replied, trying to focus on finishing my tray. "What is he saying?" Tasneem whispered, her eyes big in amazement. "Nothing." I shook my head.
Tasneem and Irene glanced at each other, then looked back at me. "Are you okay, Audrey?" Irene asked, looking concerned. "I don't think so, Irene. I really don't think so." I shook my head at her.
All of us sighed.
"Hello Audrey." Walter smiled as he walked towards me. "Hi." I smiled back, my stomach twisted at the sight of him. Ryan began snickering. I glared at him from the corner of my eye. He reached my table. Butterflies weren't in my stomach, they were dancing around my spine, flapping their wings against it. My eyes lay on his hands that oh-so-smoothly slid down the edge of the table. "How're you?" He asked. I looked back at him and smiled brightly, "I'm great, how about you?"
"I'm great too." He replied. "Of course you are." Ryan scoffed. "You might as well be spectacular in her eyes." I clenched my jaws and sighed through my nose. I glared at him once again. "What're you looking at?" Walter asked, peering at the window on the wall. "Nothing!" I chimed. I think I blushed, I felt heat on my cheeks and they were itchy. Just then, one of his friends called him to their table. "I-I gotta go, see ya later." He said and walked away.
I heaved a sigh of relief, he did not suspect me.
Ryan was still giggling. I raised my fork at him, "you-!" He kept giggling. "What did he do?" Tasneem asked, as if she supported him. "Nothing." I shook my head. "Why don't you tell us anything?" Irene asked, shaking me vigorously.
"It's... it's too embarrassing to say." I thought of other excuses to push this off. "Oh my God, Audrey! You are piquing my curiosity! What did he do?!" Irene kept pleading. "Nothing, he did nothing." I said. Ryan placed his face on the edge of the table and smirked at me, "this is so much fun." I stabbed my fork into his head, but my hand just went through his grinning face.
I growled at him. He kept laughing his head off.
"Ok, you're being super weird. You should stop talking to him." Irene said. "Or else you'll be the topic of discussion." Tasneem said, looking back at a group of people who were whispering and staring at me. I frowned and continued eating.
'How will my life continue like this?' I thought.
