My eyes opened, and I gasped for breath after feeling suffocated by a gust of wind. I was awake, the world around me was bright and full of color, and the feeling of being pricked by a thousand needles faded away. There was a comforting warmth as I looked up to see a young man with dark messy hair and welcoming brown eyes that pulled me into its dark abyss, but as the tingling from my lips began to fade I couldn’t help but feel that there was something really wrong. 668Please respect copyright.PENANAMNtW4V9mAo
I sat up straight as I analyzed the young man, his lips were not soft with the essence of sweet vanilla and cinnamon, they were slightly hard and bristled, with a scent that was passed the dirt and sweat that was an intoxicating citrus mint. His jawline was thin but not extremely narrow, and his eyes though the color I have always gazed at with wonder, they were wide and alert, and full of concern, instead of the eyes of my tired Daniel, who held big dreams and poured his whole soul into me when the two of us were alone.668Please respect copyright.PENANAo8xJg1WG7T
I took a deep breath trying to get myself to speak. I tried to say so many things at once but nothing could come out. Until finally I could mutter his name… “Daniel?” His answer shattered my heart into a million pieces that I couldn’t hear the last part he said. All I know was that this young man was not Daniel. My savior wasn’t who I wanted, I felt like my whole life was a lie. I was in a nightmare and all I wanted was him. 668Please respect copyright.PENANAqwDW2ThDC3
The next thing I knew was that I was off the ground as Garrett, began to carry me to a fence that was never there before and on the other side a group of young men, around my savior's age, stood there with an emotion on their faces that I could only assume to be shock. As I gazed at their attire, I felt my heart sink and quicken all at once, a few of them wearing shirts with pictures that were unusual and others that didn’t wear any at all. Their shoes ranging from the other colors of the rainbow and not the black or brown that I was so accumulated to. I was out of place and that scared me. “How long have I been out?” I was able to ask, my voice strained as if two fingers held tightly around my windpipe. The young man looked down at me with his eyes full of worry.668Please respect copyright.PENANAN1v0278v5u
“Don’t worry we’re taking you to get some help,” he said gently. That didn’t answer my question.668Please respect copyright.PENANANHoOCPTNaV
“What year is it?” I asked more clearly. That’s when the group on the other side started to panic.668Please respect copyright.PENANACuaamqMDvv
“Lance help me find a weak spot in the fence and pull!” One of them shouted, he appeared to be the one in charge of the whole gang.668Please respect copyright.PENANA9EoDNqC3QQ
“I’m calling an ambulance Josh,” Spoke a young man as he pulled out this weird flat rectangle and putting it to his ear. As Garrett held me close, and the boys scrambled to open the fence, tears began to flood my eyes as all of these questions flooded my head. What happened to me? Where was Daniel? My parents? Did we win the war? Questions burned inside me but I could only get myself to ask the same question.668Please respect copyright.PENANAf9oeXdEedw
“What year is it?” I asked again, my voice quivered. The young man looked down at me as he frowned. 668Please respect copyright.PENANAob2oeaFZEz
“The year is 2018.” He finally responded, and I felt as if the world around me has fallen apart. Seventy-six years, I have been asleep for three-quarters of a century. I felt movement and heard the screeching of moving metal before the darkness consumed me again.
