In a kingdom long ago, there was a powerful witch who was the most sought after and protected woman in the land. She was loved by all who asked for her help. One day, a young man and his sick wife came to her requesting help to have a child of their own. The witch took pity on them and granted them their wish, asking only their own gratitude in return.
The wife became well within two days. By the next year, the couple was blessed with a beautiful daughter born at dawn. They named her Aurora. To celebrate, the proud parents threw a grand party but neglected to invite the witch who had made it all possible. The witch attended the event just the same and was willing to forgive them for their mistake, even give their daughter a gift. Instead she was rejected, humiliated and spat in the face. Insulted by their greed, her heart went dark. Instead of a blessing, she placed a curse on the baby Aurora. 813Please respect copyright.PENANAoFzHrlZBXc
"Listen well all of you, the girl shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, loved by all who know her. But before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a sleeping death, only to be woken by true love's kiss."
The story was told and rehashed for many generations. As the time passed, the true history was long forgotten.
"If the spell is broken, the daughters of Briar will fall. They will prick their finger and shall wake by true loves kiss. But a generation will come when true love will not conquer all and the dragon will rise again."

"Daniel, promise me you'll come home safe and sound? I don't know what I'd do if those Nazis-" I stopped, tears falling as his hand fell gently on my cheek.
"Shh, sweet Eleanor, don't worry. I will come home before they can even lay a hand on me." He smiled softly. "And we will have a big wedding, have kids,"
"Kids..." The word soured in my 16-year-old mouth.
"I know how you feel right now about that idea, but everything will be okay, I promise." He pulled out a chain. "Happy Birthday my darling." 813Please respect copyright.PENANA51kg4aiA9E
As he kissed my cheek, he placed the necklace in my hand. It was a simple sterling silver that shined brightly against my skin. I smiled despite my breaking heart.
"Can you help me put it on?" I asked, turning my back toward him and tugging aside my dark brown hair. The chain laid on my warm skin as he clasped it. I smiled, touching it lightly. "I will never take it off." 813Please respect copyright.PENANAhEjNvqIlVb
A tear fell down my cheek as I stared up into his warm brown eyes. He wiped it away gently. "Promise?"
"Promise." 813Please respect copyright.PENANAi9C3D2v8JX
A loud whistle broke the air of lovebirds saying goodbye. My hand reached for his, not wanting him to leave me yet. It was my 16th birthday, the worst birthday to have in my bloodline
"Eleanora Nox Briar." He gripped my hands. "Everything is going to be alright. I love you." 813Please respect copyright.PENANAZqRmAEmDhl
His soft lips pressed against my cold cheek before pulling back and grabbing his bag.
"I love you too," I told him placing my hand on my necklace as I watched him board the train. 813Please respect copyright.PENANAPyzIAXiIjO
Like a prince off to save his kingdom, Daniel left to save the world.
