I looked over to my father. He was frowning. Why was he so upset? What was so wrong with playing such a beautiful melody?
When I finished, Lori ran up silently and thanked me.
"Everyone! Something hit the boat! We are trying to find the beast that did this so our hunters may kill it! Because we were all ready heading towards land, we will continue to move forward. Our engineers and mechanics are working hard as we speak to plug up the hole as best we can until we get to land. Please pack your stuff, and ready your families personal boat in case we can not keep the hole contained! Thank you!" Lori calmly walked back to her cabin while everyone quietly scrambbled to theirs.
I tried to walk past everyone, but eventually gave up and let the crowd take me. When the crowd died down, I ended up in the south hall. My cabin was in the east hall. I quickly walked back, but when I turned a corner, I ran into a small person. I looked down and saw Chico. He looked up, his face full of excitement.
"Zi! I've been looking for you! Dan wants to see you! He's in the west hall now. Go to my cabin and we'll meet you there!" He gave me a hug and ran off. I smiled to myself and started towards the east hall again, wondering what Dan could need right now. I turned a corner, and at the end of the hallway was my father. He stomped over to me.
"Where did you learn to do that?" his eyes burned into me. I've never been afraid of him until now.
"I've always known how to play the flute," I said.
"I'm not an idiot. Where did you learn the song of calm?" He spat. What did he mean the song of calm?
"Lirario, I really don't know what you're talking about. I played my flute for them."
"Zilynn I know that was magic. Who taught that to you? Who told you to play in front of them?" He glared at me several minutes before I answered.
"Daniens mom told me. What do you mean magic? I just played moms song."
He growled "Herimia." He stormed off towards the east hall.
"Lirario, wait!" and I ran after him.
