Rawell and Pu entered the room to see Kaiel intensely staring at himself in the mirror. Pu spoke quietly to Rawell.
“Maybe we should give him some time to sort out his thoughts.”
“I agree.”
Pu leaves the room and Rawell starts to leave too before he turns his head and talks to Kaiel.
“Boy, supper is in the room to your right. Help yourself, Pu and I already ate.”
Kaiel silently nods his head. Upon seeing this Rawell leaves. Kaiel slowly begins to slink to the ground while staring at himself in the mirror.
“Who am I? Why do I look so strange?”
Kaiel stays in front of the mirror contemplating until his stomach starts rumbling. He comes back to his senses and gets up to go and eat.
“I stayed in front of the mirror for hours but nothing came to me. What am I supposed to do?”
Kaiel begins to eat the leftover boar meat. As he begins to eat his eyes begin to get heavier and heavier. In a short while he ends up placing his arms and head on the table and dozes off to sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A burly man comes rushing into his bedroom.
“Kara get Kaiel out of here, they're coming!”
A slender light skinned woman playing with her 7 year old son looks up, dropping the toy she was previously holding.
“It can’t be… Isn’t it too soon William?”
The man walks towards his wife and son, holding a pouch in his hand and a sword in the other. When he reaches his wife he takes her hand and gives her the pouch.
“It is too soon, which is why you need to run. Take Kaiel and this pouch and run. Under no circumstances must you come back. Go to where Lisa, Troy, Sal and the others are and tell them that the head chief says ‘order 4’.”
William lifts his son up to stand on his two feet then kneels down to look him in the eyes.
“Daddy’s going to leave for a bit, so I’m appointing you to temporary man of the family ok? You need to be strong for me and take care of your mother while I’m gone.”
“Dad where are you going? When are you coming back?”
“Daddy’s going to stop something he should’ve stopped a long time ago and as for when I’m coming back, only the gods will know.”
William stands back up and dashes out of the room, breaking the wooden door on the way out. Kaiel looks at his father leaving then feels a tug on his hand.
“Come on son, we need to listen to your father.”
Kaiel and his mother both hurried out of the backdoor. As they continued walking towards the tavern Kaiel looked around the semi-deserted town. The once bustling marketplace was now dead silent and the big beautiful water fountain in the middle of the town square was now dried up. After about an hour of walking Kaiel’s mother stopped to look at a piece of paper she had hidden in her white blouse.
“No doubt about it, this is the place. Kaiel come inside with me.”
Bells rang at the opening of the large steel door and all the people currently inside the room stopped their conversations and shifted their eyes towards the entrance to the building. A soft female voice spoke up at the sight of the two people currently opening the door.
“Kara? What are you and Kaiel doing here so soon? It’s not your turn to-”
“Order 4.”
The room goes dead silent. Not even a breathe can be heard after Kara said those words. The same female voice can be heard taking a large gulp then speaking out, breaking the silence.
“Are you sure the chief said to execute Order 4? Are you sure you didn't mishear him?”
At this moment a tall muscular man stood up from one of the nearby tables. Standing at 2.2m he towered over everyone else in the room. He put down a large wooden cup with his left arm and moved towards Kara and Kaiel.
“Lisa they wouldn’t lie about this. Kara, Kaiel you need to follow me.”
Kaiel looked at this imposing man and whispered to his mother.
“Mommy who is this man?”
“He’s your Uncle Troy, Dad’s teacher. WE need to follow everything he says ok?”
Kaiel nods his head and both of them follow Troy to his table. Troy lifts up the table to reveal an iron door. He then pulls on the handle to open the door revealing a flight of stairs. Grabbing one of the nearby torches they begin to head down the pitch black passageway.
After walking in silence for around half an hour Kaiel decides to speak up.
“Uncle Troy where are we going?”
“Don’t talk. You’ll see when we get there.”
Kaiel lowers his head as they continue to walk further into the darkness.
