"Zi! Zi! I can't sleep play me a song!"
Danien ran in a moment later, angry with Chico.
"Chico leave Zi alone, she's been through enough today!"
"It's fine Danien. I enjoy playing the lullaby."
We walked into the front room and Chico curled up on the couch. Danien sat next to him, and I sat acoss from them.
I closed my eyes and thought nothing other than a sleeping Chico. I started to play a slow melody that my mother had always played for me when I couldn't sleep.
As I continued playing, I opened my eyes and saw Danien giving me his half smile that made his eyes sparkle.
I broke eye contact and looked down at Chico who was fast asleep. And a moment later I could here Danien snoring loudly.
BAM!
The boat suddenly jerked to the side and flung all three of us into my room.
Danien quickly jumped up and looked around, searching for signs of danger. Chico lay fast asleep in the middle of the room. I got up and ran out of my cabin as quickly as possible.
I ran up on deck and looked over the side where the bump came from. I couldn't see anything on the horizon. I looked down into the water. A large shadow moved around under the water, swimming away from the boat.
Danien ran up behind me and searched the horizon.
"Theres no ship. What could it have been?" he continued to look at the horizon.
I pointed to the water. "It's not a boat Danien, look."
He looked down, but the shadow had left. Nothing was there except a deep blue ocean.
"Hm, must have missed it. Let's go back and grab Chico." Danien took my hand and electricity shot through my arm. I turned to him to see if he had felt it to. But he didn't show signs that he did.
We silently walked back to my cabin hand and hand. Everyone seemed to be more calm this time. It was nice.
When we got to my cabin, Chico was still fast asleep. So Danien and I sat in the front room and talked for about an hour until my father got back.
"Hello my dearest," he smiled at me, then he saw Danien sitting a little closer than he liked, "Danien," he turned back to me, his smile not as big. "Are you okay? Something hit the boat again and I wanted to make sure you were alright."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm fine. But you're a little late, that happened awhile ago. I could have been dead!"
"Oh Zilynn, please stop with the sarcasm. We need to talk. I need you to say no. Do not go. I don't need you dying li-"
"What in Armidian are you talking about? Say no to what?"
"You'll know what I'm talking about when the time is right. Just please don't say yes. I couldn't stand it if you left." he stood up, now smiling after that weird and confusing talk. "I have some business to attend to with the Mr. Ghour. I'm begging you, PLEASE stay in the cabin." he turned around and walked off, humming to a made up tune.
Danien turned to me. "I think I'll take Chico and go back to my cabin. Thanks for playing the lullaby for Chico. He hasn't been sleeping well. He keeps having nightmares of a big sea monster. Anyway, thanks!" He walked into my room and scooped up Chico. I ran and opened the door. He stopped in front of it and opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but didn't. He frowned and walked out.
I walked to the couch, and plopped down. This was a really comfy couch. Thinking of it, did anyone really have a couch? I know they are expensive,, and you can only buy them on land. Which we only went to once a year. Always in the spring. That's when they had the most food.
"Zi!" Herimia whispered. Knocking on the door. I stood to open it and she barged in. "What ever you do," she said excitedly, "say yes!"
