Adrian
Crash, Boom!
I woke up to the sound of something hitting the floor hard, and sat up immediately.
I sat up and looked around the dim room. Everything seemed normal, but what was that boom sound? And where did Josh go?
Oh, I know where he is~
I scanned the floor until my eyes landed on Josh rubbing his sore arm.
"Ow!" he said in pain. "You know you could have broken my arm!"
"Not my problem," said Ace carelessly, without even glancing over.
Is it strange that I think they would make a good couple? The two boys who were obvious opposites, but you know what they say, opposites attract.
"What's going on here?" asked Jenna, slamming the door open.
"Oh," said Julia, figuring the situation in her head. "You weren't joking about kicking him off the bed."
"I don't joke about anything," said Ace. "At least I gave you a heads up, right?"
"That didn't help," said Josh.
"Well, I'm just going to go now," said Julia.
"I'm coming with you!!!" said Jenna. "I don't want to be left alone with weird boys!"
The two of them left the room again, leaving me with Ace and Josh.
"So," I said slowly. "WHO SHOULD I GET MAD AT FOR WAKING ME UP!!!!"
"Why would you be mad?" asked Josh. "I literally got woken up by landing on the floor!"
"Well, you stole the covers," said Ace. "So I had a reason to kick you off the bed."
"Yeah, okay, I'm leaving," I said. "Going to check what we have for breakfast."
I left the room, leaving Ace and Josh to argue by themselves.
"So what's for breakfast?" I asked, assuming they made some sort of food.
"Ummmm, we didn't know what you guys wanted so we didn't cook you anything," said Jenna.
"Seriously?" I asked. "I'm gonna starve to dea-"
"GUYS!!!" screamed Josh, suddenly barging in the room. "GUYS, GUYS, GUYS!!!!"
"Calm down!" said Julia.
"What is it?" I asked.
"We're late," answered Ace. "We missed one hour of school. Don't know why Josh is overreacting, isn't missing school a good thing?"
"Not if it's the first day you meet your teacher!!!" said Josh.
"Oh!" said Julia, realizing what Josh said. "WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A BAD FIRST IMPRESSION!!!! Go! Go! Go! We're going to get detention!"
"You're right," I realized suddenly. "WE'RE GOING TO GET DETENTION!"
"Forget breakfast, let's go!!!" said Jenna quickly.
We all bolted towards the door and ran down the hallway. We were halfway to the class we were supposed to be in until I remembered something.
"Our bags!" I said suddenly. "We need our school supplies!"
"Go back!" said Julia.
We all ran back toward our dorm to get the bags that we packed yesterday.
oOo
"Where were you kids?" the teacher demanded? "Class started an hour ago!"
"Sorry, miss," apologized Julia. "This won't happen again."
"Yeah, this won't happen ever again," I said, backing her up. "We forgot to set a timer because we were all tired."
"This is the first day of school after all," said Josh.
"Fine, you do have some fair reasons," said the teacher. "This doesn't mean you're off the hook though, you all have to stay after school in detention for one hour to make up for the time you missed. Now go find your desks."
I looked around the small classroom, the really small classroom. I'm not complaining or anything because we didn't have many people in our class either. Our school is a very small school, not in a bad way though. It's very hard to get in this school, only really smart kids or kids who have rich parents can join this school. Golden Flower High is a five star, private school where most people don't get in. This is why each class had eight students only. Well we had nine because Jenna asked the teachers and all those people to put me in this class that already had eight students.
This year, my classmates were Julia, of course, Jenna, Ace, Josh, Declan, two other girls and this other guy. I knew both of the girls, by reputation only but I didn't recognize the boy.
The first girl had dark hair, with dark green tips at the end. Her name was Luna. She's known as one of the smartest and quietest kids who love to spend all day in the library. I don't know how they do it though, how does anyone sit still for more than two minutes with no entertainment except a book?
The other girl had, I don't know how to describe it, very colourful hair. She must have all the colours of the rainbow in one high ponytail. It didn't look bad though, not bad at all. Some people are just magical enough to look good in whatever look they wanted. Her name was Joy, she was known as the school cupid. I've seen her go around the school, taking notes in her sparkly notebook about people and who would be their perfect match. She makes all the people she shipped, end up together by the end of the school year.
The boy had brownish blond hair with sparkling blue eyes. He looked like one of those popular, funny kids who annoyed the teachers every day. I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up in detention at least a thousand times before the end of the school year. Not exaggerating at all. Maybe I would have known his name if I wasn't late for the first day of school.
The entire school day was pretty event-less. Nothing particularly interesting, unless you count the time Jenna walked into the male teachers bathroom again. Now that I think of it, that is pretty interesting. Fast forward to after school in detention. That's when things started to become interesting, in the weird way.
oOo
"So...... what do you want to do?" asked Jenna, the second the teacher left the room.
"I have an idea," said Josh. "A really good one, *insert Lenny face*."
"Oh good," said Jenna, relieved. "I'm going to die if we don't do anything for a second longer."
"We've been in this room for ten seconds." reminded Julia.
"Ten seconds?" asked Josh, surprised. "Good."
"Why?" asked Ace.
"More time for my fantastic idea," answered Josh. "Jenna, come. Let's discuss my idea in private because I know you'll like it."
They huddled up in a corner, whispering their thoughts to each other. Then they turned around and I knew this was going to be one long hour of detention, judging by their facial expression.
"Okay, guys! Sit in a circle on the floor," instructed Jenna.
All of us sat down, obediently, not wanting to mess with them, except Ace.
"Why should I listen to you?" he asked. "What's in it for me?"
"Ummmm, oh! I know," said Jenna. "Sorry Josh, I just got to do what I just got to do?"
"What do you mea-" asked Josh, confused.
"You get to have the bed yourself," offered Jenna. "If you play with us, Josh will sleep on the floor tonight."
"What? I didn't agr-" Josh started.
"Okay, It's a deal! I'll play, and he sleeps on the floor tonight," said Ace, pointing to Josh.
"Okay, yay!" said Jenna, excitedly.
"Wait," said Josh, "I didn't agree for this yet."
"Josh," said Jenna, in a serious voice. "Sometimes, you just have to sacrifice yourself for the greater good."
"Am I the only one who finds this extremely dumb?" asked Julia.
"Shut up," said Jenna. "I just gave everyone a speech of wisdom."
"That was one sentence." I pointed out.
"Whatever, doesn't matter," she said quickly. "Now, we will begin the game!"
"What are we playing?" I asked.
"Truth or Dare-" announced Jenna.
"-Kiss or Swear!" interrupted Josh excitedly.
"We all know how to play right?" asked Ace.
"Why wouldn't we?" asked Josh.
"I don't know....." said Ace. "Maybe it's because some people are really dumb."
"Okay fine," said Jenna. "You have a point. If you are dumb, Truth or dare is a game where when it's your turn, you get to choose between Truth, Dare, Kiss or Swear. If you choose truth, someone will ask you a question and you have to answer it truthfully."
"If you decide to be brave a choose dare, you will get a dare that you have to do, or else you'll have to clean the entire dorm and make food for us for an entire month," explained Josh.
"Sound fair," said Ace. "Can we add sleeping on the floor as an extra punishment if Josh doesn't do the dare?"
"What? How's that fair?" asked Josh.
"Ehhh, punishment?" asked Ace.
"I already let u have the bed today! Isn't that enough?" asked Josh.
"Fine," said Ace. "See how nice of a friend I am?"
"I really don't-"
"You to done acting like an old married couple yet?" interrupted Julia. "Can Jenna or Josh finish explaining the game to the dumbos out there?"
"Fine," said Josh. "Kiss is simple, if you choose kiss, you have to kiss whoever the person tells you to kiss. And swear is also pretty simple, you have to swear whatever the person tells you to. For example, if someone tells you to swear not to kick anyone off the bed, you have to swear not to, if you break the swear, the punishment is the same as the one for the dare."
"That example was directed to me," said Ace. "Now I know not to choose Swear."
"Shut up, no one asked for your opinion," said Josh.
"Excuse me-"
"Okay who wants to start the game?" interrupted Julia. "Or do you want to continue listening to dumb people argue?"
"Whatever, let's just start the game," said Josh.
"I will be brave and volunteer... Adrian!" said Julia.
"Since you were brave enough volunteered Adrian, why don't you go first, if you are really that brave," said Jenna, in an evil tone.
"Ha, I agree," I said.
"Ugh, fine, only to show you guys that I am as brave as I said I was."
"Okay, yay! Truth or Dare, Kiss or Swear!" said Jenna, using her eyes to tell Julia to choose Kiss.
Of course, she ignored Jenna's weird expression and said "Swear,"
"Awww, I thought you were brave!" said Josh.
"I am!" protested Julia, then she looked towards me. "And plus, I'm not dumb enough to choose Kiss, I already know who you're going to make me kiss."
"Fine, now you chose Swear?" she asked, shooting a look toward Josh.
"Yeah....." said Julia.
"Josh, let's discuss privately again," ordered Jenna.
"Yesssirrrr,"
The huddled up in that same corner by the teacher's desk again, then came back a few moments later, after whispering to each other.
"Julia, swear you will not kill me the next time I try to make your love life better," said Jenna.
"What?" asked Julia, with a shocked expression. "How's that fair? If you try to ship me with a certain someone, and I'm not talking about anyone, I think it's fair that I have the right to kill you."
"Mehhh, too bad," said Jenna, with a smirk. "You have to, it's the rules of the game. Or would you rather clean the dorm and make food for an entire month?"
"I hate you," said Julia, seriously.
"Awwww, I love you too, bestie!" said Jenna, smiling.
"Fine," said Julia stretching the E a little longer than it was supposed to be. Then she sighed a long, dramatic sigh before talking again. "I swear I won't kill Jenna the next time she unsuccessfully tries to ship me with Adrian."
"How'd you know I was going to ship you with Adrian?" asked Jenna, obliviously.
"I don't know," said Julia, sarcastically. "Maybe it's because you've been shipping me with him for the past five years?!"
"Oop," said Jenna.
"Yeah, yeah, moving on," said Ace.
"Okay, now it's my turn," said Julia. "Heh, revenge. Jenna, Truth or Dare, Kiss or Swear?"
"I should've known," said Jenna, looking down. "Truth."
"Bad choice," said Julia, smirking.
"Noooo, Julie!!! Please have mercy on me!" said Jenna, dropping to her knees in front of Julia, dramatically.
"Nope, just because you called me the nickname that I actually don't mind, doesn't mean I will forgive you for not letting me kill you."
"Wait, if Julie is the nickname she actually likes, then what is the one she hates," asked Josh.
"Don't tell hi-" started Julia.
"The nickname she hates is Jules," I interrupted. "And of course, you have to give me the credits for thinking of it."
"Normally, I would kill you," said Julia. "But since I thought of a truth for Jenna, I'll find another reason to kill you later."
"Seems like you're a little too obsessed with murder," said Josh.
"Shut up," she said, then she turned towards Jenna. "Jenna, tell us what you really think of Ellard."
"Wait, wait, wait, who's Ellard?" I asked.
"What are you, dumb?" asked Julia. "He's the guy with blue eyes in our class today. He was literally in our class last year!"
"What?" I asked, surprised. "Seriously? How did I not recognize him?"
"Probably because you are really dumb," said Jenna. "Julie you should tutor your boyfriend or something."
"Oh, he really is dumb," said Josh.
"I can finally agree with something," said Ace.
"And," said Julia. "He's not my boyfriend!!!"
"Ha, you can't kill me!" said Jenna happily.
"Whatever, back to my question," said Julia. "So? What do you think of Ellard?"
The look of pure shock and panic crossed her face, but disappeared as soon as it appeared.
"Oh him," she said, in a calm tone. "He's basically a stranger to me."
"Are you sure?" asked Julia. "I'm pretty sure I saw him walk up your driveway one day when I was walking down your street."
"Ohh, Ummm, I forgot my textbooks in class one day." she lied.
"You do realize it was summer? We don't have school in summer, unless you had summer school? You never told me you went to summer school." said Julia.
"You're a horrible liar," said Josh.
"Fine, I lied about him. I actually think he's a really kind and funny person?" admitted Jenna.
"Ooooh, I smell a ship," said Julia, teasingly.
"Since when did you ship things?" I asked.
"Shut up."
"Okay, my turn!" said Jenna. "Uhhh... Ace! Truth or Dare, Kiss or Swear?!"
"Of course you decided to choose me," said Ace.
"Ha!" said Josh.
"You won't be all 'Ha!' after I choose you next when I get to choose." threatened Ace.
"Choose for what?" asked Jenna. "For a husband or boyfriend?"
"What? None of those!" said Ace and Josh at the same time.
"Sure," said Jenna, meaning anything but sure.
"Let me just ignore that," said Ace. "Okay, Truth?"
"I already planned this one, ever since we just met," said Jenna, proudly.
"What? The second you see someone, you just plan truths to ask them?" asked Ace.
"Yup," said Jenna seriously. "Anyways, for your truth, what is the most embarrassing picture taken of you?"
"Oh my god, I have the picture!" said Josh.
"Ohhh... uh, it was-." started Ace, blushing.
"Don't just tell us about it," said Jenna. "Show us!"
"Yeah!" I agreed. "Show us!"
"I'll do it!" said Josh, already pulling his phone with a mulberry coloured case out.
"Don't show it," said Ace strictly.
"What can you do about? I already got kicked off of the bed and won't be able to sleep in it today," said Josh.
"Remember, I'll choose you when I'm done this truth," said Ace before glancing at Jenna and quickly adding "-for the next Truth, Dare, Kiss or Swear."
Josh paused for a second, before shrugging and continued scrolling through his liked pictures.
"Aha!" he suddenly said. "I found the photo!"
"OMG, let me see!" said Jenna, stealing the phone from Josh. "OMG! He looks so cute!"
"You showed them that one, did you?" asked Ace, not surprised.
"Yep!" answered Josh.
"Let me see!" I said before tugging the phone out of Jenna's hands.
The photo was a picture of Ace In a dress with way too much makeup on.
"Oooohh," said Julia, leaning towards me to see the photo.
"Someone's blushing," teased Jenna.
"Shut up! I'm not Blushing!" I said.
"That was the worst lie ever, even worse than all my lies," she said.
"Yeah, okay, next!" said Julia quickly. "Ace, ask Josh already!"
"Okay!" said Ace. "Josh, Truth or Dare, Kiss or Swear?"
"Uhhh, Dare?" decided Josh.
"Not as smart as I thought you were," said Ace. "I dare you to run into one of the dorms next to ours and scream 'I'ma steal all of your cookies!'"
"Why would I want cookies?" asked Josh.
"If you don't want them, I'll take them," offered Jenna.
"Yeah, okay, now," said Josh, shooting Jenna a look that I couldn't read. "Adrian, everyone else went, now, it's your turn."
"Oh," I said. "Since, no one was brave enough, I'll show you what brave really is. Kiss."
"NO!" said Julia, angrily. "You moron! Josh is going to make you kiss me! He's on the same side as Jenna, remember?"
"You can't go back!" said Jenna quickly. "Rules are rules."
"Yeah!" said Josh, smiling triumphantly. "Adrian, Kiss Julia."
"Oh, umm, do I have to?" I asked politely, hoping they will agree to give me a different kiss. I only ever saw Julia as a friend, or an almost friend. So it wouldn't feel right to kiss her.
"Yes? Of course you have to do it!" said Jenna. "Or there will be consequences."
"You sound scary," I said. "Almost as scary as Julia, and that's saying something."
"I'll take that as a compliment, being scary isn't easy," said Julie. "Now just get the kiss over with and never make the same mistake and choose kiss again."
"Oooh, you want your prince charming to kiss you?" asked Jenna.
"No, I just want to get it over with so he won't have to kiss me ever again," answered Julie.
"Yeah, so how do I kiss her?" I asked. "She'll punch me in the face if I get to close to her. So I really shouldn't kiss her, or else I might end up in the hospital."
"Do it." said Jenna, giving me a death stare.
"Okay, okay!" I said, and moved closer to Julia.
I leaned towards her face and stared down at her lips. Then I kissed her. On the cheeks.
"SIKE!!!!" I suddenly said, breaking the silence.
"What? You can't do that!" said Jenna.
"You never said where to kiss her, so I kissed her cheek. It still counts as a kiss." I explained.
"Umm guys-" started Josh.
"That's not fair! I say you have to kiss her again!" said Jenna.
"Guys look at-"
"Why should I?" I interrupted. "You literally never said-"
"GUYS!" shouted Josh, suddenly. "I don't think Julia's okay."
We all looked towards Julia, who was blushing crimson already, from head to toe. It looked like she fainted or something because she was lying sprawled on the floor.
"How?" I asked. "It was only on the cheek!"
"Oh, are we supposed to give her CPR or something?" asked Ace.
"Ew, I'm not giving her CPR," said Jenna. "She'll be fine, she's just being dramatic. This actually happened before in grade seven."
"Who did it?" I asked, seriously. "Who kissed her?"
"Mmmm, jealous much?" asked Jenna.
"Just- who did it?!"
"Relax, nobody kissed her," she assured. " She just tripped down the stairs but she didn't get hurt because Declan caught her."
"Declan?" I asked. "He never told me."
"He doesn't need to tell you everything," said Jenna. "And plus, you guys aren't even that close."
"But-"
"What's happening here?" said the teacher's voice suddenly.
"Oh, is detention over?" asked Ace.
"Yeah I guess- Wait! Who attempted murder here?" asked the teacher.
" What murder?" I asked, surprised. "Who, oh!"
"That girl over there, lying on the floor." said the teacher, pointing at Julia. "Whoever attempted to kill her, I'm very disappointed in you. Everyone knows they have to hide all the evidence after attempting murder! How could anyone be so stupid?"
"Sorry- wait what?" I asked. This was one weird teacher.
"Whoever did this will get one more hour of detention, unless," said the teacher. "PLEASE TEACH ME HOW YOU KILLED THIS GIRL WITHOUT ACTUALLY KILLING HER. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO KILL SOMEONE WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES! PLEASE, TEACH ME YOUR WAYS!"
"I did it," I said. "I killed her, but didn't really kill her."
"HOW?"
"Who do you want to kill?" I asked. "It might not work on some people."
"Oh, no one," she said. "Just my annoying boyfriend."
Boyfriend? How was this crazy lady dating if I wasn't? I thought.
"Oh then, I guess it might work?" I said. "Just pretend you're going to kiss the target but then, kiss them on their cheek and that should work."
"THANK YOU!" she said before running out the class, probably to go find her boyfriend.
"Does this mean we can finally get out of here?" asked Ace.
"Who cares let's just go," said Jenna, skipping out the class.
