I was running through the forest, my vision blurry from tears. I wasn't sure what was following or why I was running. I wasn't even sure why I was crying. All I knew was that I wanted to run. Needed to run.
Soon I was plummeting into a dark hole, and just kept falling. I saw a light below me and as soon as I reached it-
"Blue! Are you sleeping in my class." I groaned and looked up, noticing everyone looking at me. The teacher, Mr.Green funnily enough, looked pretty pissed at me. I shrugged.
"Sorry, I didn't sleep last night." It was the truth. I could barely get to sleep after yesterday. I just kept thinking. Do I really already like a guy I just met a couple days ago?
I wasn't the type to even like boys in the first place. Well, I am attracted to them but usually they are all annoying and gross. Dexter wasn't an exception. Except, he was. Now, I'm confusing myself.
"Hellooo? Blue?" Mr. Green waved his hand in my face. I sighed. "Sorry, sorry." I apologize. He grumbled something and went back to teaching. I rolled my eyes at his attitude and I heard a snicker.
I looked over at Dexter and glared at him. Don't get me in trouble, I mouth to him. He giggled again and I looked at the teacher, ignoring him. Then Dexter just straight up laughed.
Mr. Green turned around and glared at him. "Is there something funny Dexter?" Dexter shook his head. 'S-sorry." he said out of breath. Mr. Green mumbled something about not getting paid enough and I chuckled in my head.
After class, I met up with Dexter outside of class. He looked shocked. "Woah, you waited...for me?" He asked, pointing at myself. I gave him a look. "Yes Idiot. I kinda...trust you." I muttered.
He smiled widely and grabbed me by my hand, startling me. He pulled me to lunch and I stopped him. "Woah there tiger, I didn't even get my lunch." He looked at me apologetically. 'Sorry, I was excited." I chuckled.
"Of course you were." I blushed when he smirked at me. "You know me too well, Blue." I looked away. "Shut up." I muttered.
I went back to get my lunch from my locker and when I went back to the cafeteria, I saw that Dexter was gone and sighed. Probably dragged off by someone. Suddenly I was surrounded by 2 girls and a guy.
"Hi there!" A red headed girl practically yelled. "Rose, don't scare him." The boy, who looked really emo, said. I looked strangely at them.
"Um, hi?" I greeted, confused. "Hello! I'm Rose, the emo loser here is Henry, and green haired girl over there is Amber." She said, pointing to the two other friends there.
I waved slowly, still confused. "Okay...hi there. I'm Blue." Rose nodded enthusiastically. "We know! You're the insane kid." I cocked my head. Then I started to chuckle.
"Oh so that's what I'm being called. Wow, so original." I rolled my eyes. Amber chuckled. "I like your humor kid." I was surprised at how deep her voice is. I think she noticed cause she looked away.
"I'm trans." She said. I smiled. "That's cool. I didn't even notice." She smiled a bit. "I know, but when I speak, people are surprised. That's why I don't speak that much." She explained.
I nodded. "I get that. It's okay around me. You're valid and you are a real girl, don't forget that." She gasped and blushed, looking away. Believe it or not, I can be really nice.
"Thank you Blue. That means a lot." I smiled widely at her. She smiled back.
I looked back at the group and Rose spoke up. "Sit with us!" I shrugged and looked at where Dexter's table was. They didn't really care that I was there, Dexter being too occupied with some girls that looked cheap, so I nodded.
We sat down at the opposite end of the cafeteria, and we all talked. Just about anything. We talked about our favorite foods, color, and so on. Just basic things, never touching a deeper topic.
After lunch was over, we said our goodbyes to each other, not without us exchanging numbers beforehand. That's when I was tapped on the shoulder. I looked behind me and Dexter was standing. His face wore a frown and he crossed his arms.
"Why didn't you sit with me?" He asked, disappointment lacing his voice. I shrugged. "You were too busy flirting with some girls, so I made some friends. Not on purpose of course." I explained, muttering that last part.
He frowned even more. "No...that's ridiculous, I would never flirt with girls." He said. I raised my eyebrow. "Why not?" I asked. His eyes shot up in panic. "I mean I would! Just not with those girls." He rushed out. Internally, I sighed. Of course that's what he meant. He's not gay or bi. Not that I know of.
I mean he did call me cute yesterday, but I mean, maybe he just likes complimenting people? And he's one of those straight guys who are comfortable enough to call another guy cute, unlike most straight guys. Yeah, we'll go with that.
Anyway, we moved on from our little conversation and headed to class. We went our separate ways. Most of the day went by quickly, though it was hard to stay awake by then. What happened yesterday still replayed in my mind.
Anxiety plagued me as I realized that if something happened between us, negatively, he could tell everyone about me. And I didn't need that. I trusted him, but not that much. I still had my doubts.
The end of the school day finally arrived, and I went on my merry way towards home when I was stopped by someone. That someone being Dexter. "Hey friiiiiend." He dragged out, wrapping his arm around me. I raised my eyebrow.
"What do you want?" I said, not in a rude way per say, but more of a curious way. I knew he needed something by his body language. He chuckled. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?" He asked. My eyes widened.
"Uh...sure." I said. He bounced a little when I answered. It was almost like a dog wagging it's tail. "Okay great! Let's go!" And he dragged me off to who knows where.
