Sydney had slammed on her brakes after almost hitting the back of someone at a stop sign. Destiny made Sydney pull the car over until she calmed down.

Destiny must have noticed my look of panic because she touches my arm gently and whispers, "Here's your glove," as she hands it to me, "it must have fallen off when we stopped."

No one knows the reason why the light pink accessories are so essential to me except for me and my mother. Destiny is the next person that is closest to knowing the importance of my gloves. The only thing she knows is that I pretty much never take them off, and when they are off, I immediately search for them until they are returned to my hands. Everyone else probably just thinks I'm crazy, or I simply like wearing them, or it's a "blind person thing". And I like it that way. Mostly because it's the only way.

I whisper a quick "thanks" back as I carefully retrieve the glove with my remaining covered hand and slip it back on.

"I'm so sorry guys I-" Sydney starts to apologize still trying to catch her breath from her laughter.

I can sense Destiny's panic and anger, but I'm not sure if it is from Sydney's reckless driving or the fact that she finds her current feelings for Luke so amusing.

Once Sydney finally returns to her normal, chill state, Destiny starts the chastisement. "Now what exactly was so funny that was worth risking three people's lives for?!" Sydney may drive the "mom" car, but Destiny is definitely the "mom" of our friend group.

"I'm sorry, Dee, really," Sydney explains, "but do you honestly not know why what you said was so funny?"

"No, no I don't, and I don't even remember what I said at the moment, you know after almost dying and everything!" Destiny exclaims. My instincts tell me that she is rolling her eyes right now.

Sydney cannot contain her amusement once again. "First off, we didn't almost die. If anything we would have gotten in a little fender bender. Second, I was laughing because you were outright lying about you liking Luke. You said you "barely even noticed" your feelings when everyone in your entire grade knows that's the biggest cap."

"Sydney, I really don't know what your talking about. How does everyone know that I like Luke??" I could tell Destiny was getting freaked out now. I'm in Destiny's grade and her best friend so how did I not know about it, and everyone else does?

Sydney hesitated but finally said, "Wow you actually don't know. Well, let's hop back in the car and I'll explain."

Destiny starts to protest Sydney's driving after the near accident, but then she just takes a deep breath and gets in.

"Okay Destiny", Sydney starts "I really don't know how to tell you this, but remember when you slid up on Megan Makowski's snap story?"

Destiny gasped, "Oh my God, oh my God, this cannot be happening."

"Wait, hold up. What happened??" I say in confusion.

I sometimes feel "out of the loop" because I do not have social media. Well, technically I do have Instagram, but my mom manages it for me. When I really think about it, my mom is amazing. She tries her hardest to give me the life of a "normal" teen.

"Oh, my bad. Well on snap, people can slide up on a story, and they will like type in— never mind you know how Snapchat works right?" I nod and Sydney continues explaining, "Anyway, Megan, that annoying girl in your grade, decided to post a "slide up and say your crush" thing, and this dummy decided to respond with "Luke"."

I am still confused, but now I understand Sydney's amusement. "Dee, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Why would you tell Megan Makowski your crush on social media. You had to have know she would tell the whole world."

Destiny's annoyance grows, and she says, rather loudly, "Ne-ess, you don't understand. People do those slide up things all the time on snap, so I didn't think anything of it. And they're supposed to be private!!"

I faintly hear Sydney mutter "yea in middle school" under her breath, which causes Destiny to become more irritated and defensive. "Okay, I know it was a stupid thing to do, but I really thought it was anonymous. And even if it was clear that the responses weren't anonymous, that still doesn't give her the right to tell people!"

Sydney is cackling with laughter at this point, "Y'all, she didn't just tell people! She literally posted it on her story. She had all the poor saps that responded to it and who they confessed to liking on there. I think there were only like three other people that fell for it."

I could sense Destiny practically seething with anger, "What a witch!!" Destiny wasn't allowed to cuss. Once, Sydney asked her why she wouldn't cuss when her parents weren't around, but she said that she was afraid she would develop a habit of it.

"Wow, I cannot believe she would do something like that! That's horrible." Sometimes I am glad I don't have or have to deal with social media; it just seems like a bunch of extra drama to me.

"Why am I just now finding out about this?! When did she post it?" I can tell Destiny is close to tears. I know why though. With the people at our school, it will take her probably the rest of the year for her to live this down. Not to mention, she has at least two classes with Luke Downs.

Sydney told her that it was posted pretty much right after she responded to the story. After a little investigation, they realized that Megan had somehow blocked the people who she was exposing from seeing it.

Sydney's humorous attitude seemed to vanish, and she was the one angry this time. "What a coward! At least if you're going to do something like this, own up to it and don't try to hide it!”

We finally arrived at Charlottesville High's baseball field. The air was filled with the smell of grilled hamburgers and slightly overcooked popcorn. The game was just getting started, and, as fate would have it, Megan Makowski was standing right outside the entrance gate.
