(This idea would be a flashback while Winter and Weiss chat. This initial thought is it would be during Volume 3 when they're chatting and bonding. Here's the rough script-like layout for the scene and flashback. I'll update here when the energy is right to put it into a novel form, and ironed out whenever I start doing the chapters and get to this idea)

Winter: "Tell me how your studies have been progressing. I hope well."

Younger Winter, preteen: "Weiss!" -shouts about to summon a glyph when toddler Weiss pulls a case of dust down but time stop glyphs are around Weiss that aren't Winters- "She..."
Jacques: -sees this with a mine owner CEO at his side- "What's going on...? Weiss can use them too?"
Younger Winter, preteen: -nods- "She can, father."
-next in the flashback see preteen Weiss being watched by teen/older teen Winter and their father, Winter wearing a cadet uniform-
Winter: "You got this Weiss! Just focus and watch your stance!"
Jacques: "Release the knight again and Weiss, actually try this time." -sounds annoyed and impatient-
Weiss: -looks over and nods, collecting her breath and fixes her stance as doors open and the large knight we see walks out and their fight starts-
Winter: -watching nervously as sees their father tapping his fingers with arms folded- "She'll get the hang of it."
Jacques: "Looking doubtful. I don't want to have some worthless girl discrediting our name. You at least are doing something productive with it, even if it isn't what I would prefer." -Winter looks down, then jumps as Weiss is knocked down, face bleeding (where she gets her scar). She watches worried as their father grunts with a nod and medical goes in to tend to an exhausted Weiss- "My point. I'll give her another two years but that's all. Maybe my son will have more promise."

-Skip happens, have marked 2 months, and Winter is standing in front of Ironwood in his office-
Winter: "General Ironwood, I want to become the test subject for the aura transference program. I...also wish to know if your scientists would be up for trying to transfer a semblance as well."
Ironwood: "What's brought this about, cadet? Why would you want to offer your body and power for science that is for an old sad man's passion project before he dies?"
Winter: "To help my little sister, Weiss Schnee. She's struggling and is able to summon glyphs but has difficulty bringing up the summoning glyph, which my father expects after my display in my earlier years."
Ironwood: -ponders- "No one has ever transferred aura, let alone a person's natural gift."
Winter: "I know sir. I wish to be the first."
Ironwood: -silence lingers before he stands from his seat- "Very well. Have your sister come her-"
Winter: "I don't want her to know...sir."
Ironwood: "...Don't you think she should know?"
Winter: "I don't want her thinking she's being given an easy way to please father. I want her to have confidence...and stay in the family..."
Ironwood: -sighs and walks around, puts hand on Winter's shoulder- "Alright. She'll never know. I assume you have a request for what you want the transfer to go into?"
Winter: "I do...a hair comb tiara, with four points...so she can have myself, mother, father and Whitley always with her as she trains."
-return to present day-
Weiss: "Um, are okay Winter? Winter? Hello?"
Winter: -sips her tea, eyes closing- "Sorry about that. I was so engrossed in what you were saying."
Weiss: "I was worried I might have been boring you. So tell me about how the military has been doing."
