“How did it feel for you, Jackson?”
“It… It felt like a wave crashing down on me, surrounding me with its dark comfort. Wrapping itself around my heart, or what was left of it. Then, suddenly, there was silence. Darkness. Shallowness,” there was a few seconds' pause in the nineteen-year-old’s words. When he started again, his words got faster with each one he spoke. “It seemed like there was another, watching me, waiting for me. But I don't know who it is!” Then his words were slow again, “Or was…”
“What about after you found them? What happened then?”
“Sir, I’m sorry. But I don't know what you mean. Maybe because it’s due to me not finding them. Not finding out their identity. I know they go to my school. Hunter State University.”
The psychologist nodded a few times. “Good. This is a start. You’re starting to move on from your last.”
Move on? Move on! Does he even know what he’s talking about! He knows nothing! “Yeah… I guess I am.” Jackson told him, after thinking.
Jackson got up from where he was sitting, “A good.. Uh.. first session today, Dr. Hoffmann.”
“Yes. It was. I would hope that you take my advice on what to do.” Dr. Hoffmann told him.
“Yes, sir. I will.” Jackson walked out of the office and onto the sidewalk. “Ugh… God damn it… Why am I wasting money on something that most likely won’t work…?”
Jackson walked left on the sidewalk, towards the Campus of Hunter State. He looked around, up and down buildings as if trying to find something wrong. But, like always, nothing had popped out at him. Things seemed like the day before, and the day before that, and the day be-
He shook his head slightly, noticing a person in his path. ‘And… one of the football players. Of course…’
“Jackson! Hey!” the Football player yelled out, walking towards him.
How the hell does he know my name? Jackson thought. “Oh, uh… Hi…” He looked up to the sky, thinking of his name. “William, right…?” The skinny kid looked back to the guy that could very easily be three times his weight.
“Yeah. I’m… surprised you know it.” William said.
Jackson shot back quickly, “I could say the same to you. Um… where are you headed to…? Don’t you have to be at practice or lifting guys like me for fun?”
Williams laughed a little. “We only lift skinny people on weekends. But yeah. I do. I told the coach I’d be late today. For… reasons of my own.”
“Oh… well… I’ve got to get back to my dorm room. I was told I’m getting a new dorm buddy tomorrow and I have to clean it.”
“Alright. I’ll be off then.” William walked away and continued on his journey to somewhere Jackson didn’t know.
Jackson then continued walking the same, muttering, “Did I see him blush when he was talking to me…? Could have been that he was tired or… something else... Who knows.”
After ten minutes, he got to his dorm. It was a mess. Things thrown everywhere, cords laying in every crack and crevice, tangled up multiple times. But there was one place where it wasn’t dirty. It seemed as if it was spotless. The place was a desk with notebooks and textbooks of all shapes and sizes put around a monitor of a computer.
“I wonder who my new roommate is… hopefully not a football player. God, I can’t stand them.”
As soon as he ended his sentence, someone unlocked the door and it slowly opened.
“Uh.. Hello..?” the voice seemed familiar to Jackson, almost like…
‘William… What the hell is he doing here?’ Jackson thought. “Oh… Uh.. H-hey…hey William… Are you my new roommate?
“Yeah. I guess I am... “ The tall Football player walked into the room and turned on the light, seeing the room. “Damn, dude… you’re messy.”
“I-I can… clean it up.”
“No, no. It’s fine… I’ll do it.”
“But you ju-” Jackson was cut off.
“I said it was fine, Pretty Boy.”
“What the fuck did you just call me?”
“Oh! Shit… I’m sorry. I’m sorry. It just slipped out. That’s what the team calls you.” he quickly added, “n-not that we like you, or anything…”
There it was again. The slight blush, the stuttering. What’s his problem?
“Yeah… so… are you going to put your stuff in the room or leave it out there like an idiot?” Jackson found himself smiling at what he said, something he didn’t do often.
“Oh, yeah. I probably should.” William picked up his stuff from outside the door and brought it inside the room.
“There ya go.” Jackson said sarcastically.
“Fuck off.”
“Alright. I’ll be right back. No, only joking.”
“I know. It’s kinda obvious when you’re joking, Loki.”
“What? Another nickname, I’m guessing.”
“Only I call you that. Uh, I-I mean....”
And again… the same thing.
“Why do you call me that?” Jackson asked darkly.
“Uh… b-because… you act straight… but…”
“But I’m gay. I know. I’ve heard that all through high school.” Jackson shook his head. “Ugh… why doesn’t anyone get that?”
“S-sorry.”
“It’s fine, dude. I just wanted to, angrily, explain that to you.”
“I can tell.”
“Now… rest of your stuff or no?”
“While you were talking, I brought it all in. Do you not see the large duffle bag to the right of the closet?”
“Oh. I-I knew that.”
William smiled, “Sure you did, Loki.”
Jackson blushed ever so slightly and thought, ‘why? It’s not like I like him.’ “He’s the last person I would date.”
“Hm? Who?”
“Oh… uh… Arthur. He’s the last guy-”
“Yeah. Obviously. He’s straight.”
“Y-yeah. I-I know.”
William put some of his stuff on his bed. “Random question, but do you like anyone?”
“What? Oh. Yeah. But he doesn’t know.” he added quietly, “nor do I want to. What about you?”
“Mhm. I like someone. He acts like a girl and it’s kinda obvious he likes me back. It’s really obvious.” William grinned.
“What? Is it really that- I mean… I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Mhm. Sure, Loki.” William laid on his bed. “So, want to date me?”
Jackson blushed a lot and sat in his desk chair. He was speechless. “Uh… I-I don’t know… we barely know each other.”
“So? We can do that as we’re dating.”
“Uh… can you come here?”
William got up and walked slowly over to Jackson, getting on his knees to be level with him.
Jackson turned in his chair to face William. He just stared into his eyes.
“Are you going t-” William was cut off by something he didn’t expect. He stared at Jackson in disbelief. “Did you just…”
Jackson nodded, blushing a lot, looking down.
William smiled, “So, is that a yes?”
Jackson was extremely quiet when he said it, “Y-Yes. I will.”
“Hehe. I knew you would, Yuki.”
