(Y/N) FELT BETTER AFTER CLEARING HER HEAD IN THE GRAVEYARD. Ren's company was interesting. One minute he was silent and peaceful-seeming, the next he was completely aloof and serious. Oh, well. What they did have in common, however, was height. That's about it..
(Y/n) had avoided the topic of the treatment of spirits, seeing that their ideals were completely different. It even led to Yoh getting hurt. She didn't exactly want Ren acting up again, but hoped that he would change his ways sometime. Bason deserved to be treated better, that's for sure. (Y/n) yawned as she, again, observed Yoh's sleeping form. Kotone stood next to (Y/n) as Manta sat by the other side of the bed.
A mix of emotions were swirling inside Yoh, but (Y/n) expected that if he were having a dream. The Empath observed the reeking laziness from the brunette boy, and she laughed slightly. Classic Yoh. Amidamaru seemed a little confused at her laughing, and (Y/n) held up her fingers in counting.
"One.." "What are you doing, (Y/n)-san?" Kotone asked curiously. "Two.." "(Y/n)-dono, I too am curious," Amidamaru added. "Three."
"AAAH!!!" Yoh shot up in bed, his arms crossing over his forehead in a frightened motion.
Amidamaru was startled at first, but began to cry passionately. "Yoh-dono has awakened!" "I'm so glad!" Manta grinned. "I get it.. The ruler of Shamans he was talking about.. It must've been the Shaman King.." Yoh muttered. "Huh?" "Nani?" "Eh..?"
Yoh put a hand to his forehead, fingers interlacing with his hair. "That's why I started training to be the Shaman King.. But somehow that training became an end in itself.."
"He makes no sense—" "—I'm so glad he's alright—" "—What are you talking about, Yoh-kun?—" "—I felt more dead than usual—"
"—Shaman King?! What the heck's a Shaman King?!"
"One at a time," (Y/n) waved her hands comically as Amidamaru, Kotone and Manta spoke at the same time. "One at a time.."
"Oh, shut up, didn't you hear the girl?" A voice at the room door asked. Everyone quieted down and turned in the voice's direction. A girl with medium length blonde hair and amber eyes stood at the doorway.
She wore a long, red bandana around her head and wore a short black dress. Over her shoulder she carried a stick and a pouch. Around her neck was a necklace with shiny blue beads. "I came all this way, expecting to find you in a coma... What's the commotion about?" She asked sternly.
"Hold it right there! Who are you?" Manta asked, approaching the girl. "Are you sure you have the right room?" He pointed a finger at her. "Manta, look out!" Yoh warned.
Swiftly, the girl slapped Manta's face. She narrowed her amber eyes. "Don't speak like that to me, chibi-san," She said. "I am a Shaman. Anna, the Itako.. Asakura Yoh's fiancé."
-
The sun was now setting by the time Anna was finished with her lecture. "Yoh, starting from today I will be putting you in my special intensive training program. You're gonna make me the first lady of the Shaman world."
"You're talking nonsense!" Manta yelled. "Anna, how'd you know I was here?" Yoh asked. Anna showed her necklace. "Of course I found you! Your own grandmother, Asakura Kino trained me, Kyoyama Anna, 13 years old. My specialty is channeling— As an Itako, I can summon ghosts whenever and wherever I want, even ghosts in Heaven where normal Shaman's can't reach. The ghosts of Funbari Hill keep me well informed of Yoh and (Y/n)'s activities—Right?"
"I guess.. But (Y/n)'s not your fiancé too, right? Why scold her, too?" Yoh asked. "Baka, I'm going to be her sister-in-law, why should I not care about her? She's a friend," Anna snapped, walking over and eyeing the bandage around (Y/n)'s hand.
"It was my own fault, and if it makes Ni-san feel better, I'd like to join him in your special training program, Anna," (Y/n) suggested. "I was planning on including you, anyway," Anna eyed the bandage on (Y/n)'s hand again sharply. "You never go all-out in battles, you're going to get rusty. You obviously need training, (Y/n)."
Then she walked over, sitting on the bed opposite Yoh's. "Amazing how thirsty you can get just from walking around Tokyo," Anna spoke, turning to Manta. "Ne, could you get me some juice?"
"Eh?! Why shou—" Anna lifted her hand to slap him, that was when (Y/n) quickly blocked her slap with her palm.
Nice, strong high-five.
"Anna, sometimes slapping doesn't always get the point across. Manta can also do things if you ask him nicely," (Y/n) said softly, letting go of Anna's hand. "He's a noisy little chibi-san. I'll only let this slip once because it's you. What is he to you and Yoh, anyway?" Anna asked sternly.
"What am I? I'm their friend!" Manta said. "Is that so?" Anna stood up. "Then you'd better get on my good side." "Huh?"
Anna crossed her arms. "Remember, the orders of the future wife of the Shaman King will be obeyed."
-
The juice can dropped from the vending machine as (Y/n) sighed. "Why do I have to do what she says?" Manta complained. "Hmm... What a fix.." Yoh muttered. Manta turned to him. "Yoh-kun!"
-
"Heh?! You came from a long line of Shamans.. And your family arranged a marriage with another Shaman family to keep the bloodline going?!" Manta asked. "Yeah.. She's determined to make me the Shaman King.. And I know why. The omnipotent king of spirits will make the world any way the Shaman King wants.." "Oh, I get it.. So she's first lady.." "But there's a bright side. I don't have to be betrothed to (Y/n)," Yoh smiled lazily.
"It was either (Y/n) or Anna, I was told."
Manta.. Inwardly cringed. Weren't they siblings? "(Y/n) was adopted, so we aren't related by blood. She's a talented Shaman, too, one of the strongest at her age. She managed to fight Gramps on equal ground at one point. Gramps told me that he found her at the age of 4 with a spirit he didn't recognize, which I assume is Kotone. (Y/n)'s sometimes tomboyish and made it a sort of religious habit to wear my old clothes, so it's common for people to mistake her for a boy," Yoh laughed.
Manta turned to the (h/c) haired girl with wide eyes. (Y/n) scratched her head. "I'm just glad that I didn't end up being stuck as Ni-san's fiancé." "That almost sounded offensive—" "Gomenasai, Ni-san."
Yoh walked through the door of the hospital room. "You're late," Anna said. Amidamaru was tied up with Anna's blue beaded necklace, Kotone binded next to him by the arm. "Yoh-dono!" He cried. "Who the hell is this girl?!" "May I break these beads, (Y/n)-san?" Kotone asked, looking calmly to (Y/n). The girl shook her head, mouthing, "No". "I told you I wouldn't run away!" Yoh yelled at Anna.
"Don't pretend you're tough," Anna said calmly. "What did you...? Pack up your special training and go! I have my own ways of doing things!" Yoh shot back. "I guess this means... You want to die," Anna leaned closer intimidatingly.
"What are you talking about?" "If that Ren guy comes after you again. You will be lucky to achieve 100% Integration once more. But isn't that just a possibility?" "How do you know about him?" "I told you, I know everything about you," Anna turned around. "And at your present level, you can't beat him. Let alone all the other powerful Shamans from all over the world you have to face. Shaman King is a highly contested position. A dream upon a dream."
"You don't mean..?" Yoh's eyes widened as Anna stared out the window. (Y/n) listened attentively.
"Yes. Mankind has forgotten the spiritual world and succumbed to greed. The world is coming apart... The time of gathering has come," Anna explained. "Shamans from all over the world want to find the Great Spirit. It's time to see who will be the next Shaman King. The next hero. The Shaman Fight in Tokyo. The Shaman Fight is held wherever the most disorder prevails. That's where the hero will appear. The world's most powerful Shamans have already begun to assemble in Tokyo, bringing their foreign beliefs and their prized ghosts."
"I think a lot of us already know, but thanks for the monologue anyway.."
"Yoh," Anna said sternly. "Yes!" Yoh responded, obviously afraid of the blonde girl. "For you to survive those fights, I'll have to pound the laziness out of you. My goal is to be the first lady of the Shaman world. You're going to be my husband, so you will be the Shaman King no matter what it takes," Anna said seriously. "Naturally, (Y/n) will be my sister-in-law. I can't let her die there, so I'll train her until she can't contain consciousness."
(Y/n) knew that Anna wasn't exactly a bad person, but maybe she did overdo it a little bit.
Or was she just too soft?
-
"Shaman Fight... Shaman Fight..." Manta murmured, then closed his dictionary. "It's not in the dictionary after all... I still can't believe a tournament like that exists.." "Ano sa..." Yoh stood by the doorway, (Y/n) next to him as usual. His voice was rather raspy. Manta turned to him. "Yoh-kun, (Y/n)-ku- I mean, (Y/n)-san! How did you get those wounds?!" Manta stood up, looking up at the bandages on Yoh's face. "They're from Anna's special training course.. (Y/n) took the rest, somehow.." With that, Yoh collapsed, his sister moving forward to catch him with the laziest, "what are you doing with your life" face Manta had ever seen.
-
"My Spirit Ally enters my body when I fight, right? So I have to be strong enough to use 100% of a ghost's potential, and I need to build endurance for long battles and toughness to withstand the pain.." Yoh sat up, shivering. "How do you do it, (Y/n)?" He asked. The younger Asakura shrugged.
"Those days were like hell.. She's so heartless!" Yoh whimpered. ".. I couldn't wait to get back to school. It's like a reprieve from torture." "But at least the fruits of be worth it, right?" (Y/n) optimized. "Yeah, I guess... But as of now, school is my refuge from training."
"Fat chance! You'll be doing the electric chair for the rest of the day," Anna spoke from the doorway. "That's right, it sounds just like her," Yoh said calmly. "Oh, really? That's pretty harsh," Manta responded with equal mellow. Then both of them turned to Anna.

"HUH?!"
-
"Kyoyama Anna came from Shimokita in Aomori prefecture," The teacher introduced the blonde girl. Anna gave a sweet smile. "Nice to meet you."
Everyone smiled back at her with a warm atmosphere all except for (Y/n) and Manta. (Y/n) stared at Yoh beside her with worry. Both of them were doing the electric chair, that is, staying in a sitting position without a chair. It's like utilizing your muscles to stay in place. Yoh was shaky and struggled to stay in place, a pained expression on his face, whereas (Y/n)... Well, she was just shaking less. "Will you ever have any rest, Yoh-kun, (Y/n)-san?" Manta thought.
-
That night they were at the cinema. In the movie, a raven haired man was surrounded by what (Y/n) supposed to be innocent actors who were playing their role but were now going to be beaten up for the sake of the plot.
The main protagonist must have been a martial artist. "Now suffer my wrath!" He yelled. He kicked one of the men, knocking out another one with the nunchucks he held, landing a punch on another one and sending him flying. Yoh gasped like a child in admiration. "Ohh!" The protagonist proceeded to knock out a few more men with his nunchucks, leading to Yoh nodding enthusiastically. "Hm! Hm!" The protagonist then kicked one of the men in the face. "So cool!" Yoh yelled. Anna kicked him. "Be quiet, you're making too much noise!"
(Y/n) tended to Yoh's face for the rest of the movie.
-
"Lee Pyron is really the best! And the amazing thing about him, was that he really could do all that stuff!" Manta said. "Really? I thought it was all stunts." "What are you saying? He created a fighting style of his own, the greatest in the history of martial arts called Dao Dan Do!" Manta fanboyed. "Dao Dan Do?" Amidamaru asked.
"I'd like to learn it, (Y/n)-san!" Kotone said. "Boxing, Muay Thai, Karate, it's a deadly fighting style that mixes martial arts from all over the world! It means missile in Chinese, and it's power is exactly like a missile!" "I feel bad for the actors.." (Y/n) muttered.
"But Dao Dan Do was left unfinished, Pyron died mysteriously at the age of 30 before completing his art form. The cause of the death is completely unknown, and to add to the mystery, his body disappeared during his funeral. All that contributed to Lee Pyron becoming a legend!" Manta finished.
-
The moon gazed at the town below, painting the buildings and ground with its gentle light. "But it's odd... It's such an old movie.. Why did someone send us tickets?" Anna held the brown envelope in her hand. "There's no sender written on it."
Soft laughter sounded. Everyone turned into the direction of the sound. "He was very powerful, wasn't he?" A young woman with emerald-green hair and eyes. She wore a black dress with gold patterns at the bottom hem. Her arms were crossed and her emerald eyes were serious and calm.
(Y/n) sensed a rather hostile aura around her. "Who are you?" Yoh asked. "I am Tao Jun. A Dao Shi. I came to make a request.." Her eyes narrowed. "For my younger brother, Ren. May I please have your samurai ghost?"
"Ren?!" Yoh's eyes grew wide. "I do hate trouble, and for some special reason," Jun glanced to (Y/n). "Ren has told me to stay clear of you and not to bother hurting you, my, it's not often dear Ren speaks so fondly of someone. (Y/n), was it? Please do stay out of the way."
"I'm flattered," (Y/n) replied in a sarcastic voice. "But no."
"I see. Now," Jun turned to the others. "You've seen Lee's power in that movie, we don't have to waste time fighting." She reached between her skirts, grasping a few, pale-yellow papers with red writing on them. "Yoh, (Y/n), stand down! That woman is a Shaman," Anna warned.
"We Dao Shi have existed in the great land of China since ancient times.. We use talismans to handle our ghosts," Jun held the talismans between her fingers in a motion one might hold a fan. "Now, come, my warrior! Lee Pyron!"
Out of a coffin, a man with raven hair and purple, pale skin burst out, shattering the wooden container. "L-Lee Pyron?" Manta stuttered. Lifeless yellow eyes glowered down at him. "It's really him, but why?" "That's a corpse," Anna said. "But he's being manipulated by that woman. A corpse puppet, controlled by her spells."
"It must hurt," (Y/n) mumbled to herself. She couldn't empathize with a body void of feeling, or a soul with emotions being forced into numbness.
"We Dao Shi reunite a ghost with its corpse and have it fight for us," A small smile crept up Jun's lips. "In other words, this puppet of Lee Pyron is the real deal. The finest corpse weapon the Tao family ever acquired."
"Don't screw with us," Yoh said with a quiet anger. "Acquired? Weapon? Do you really think you can do that to a spirit?" He picked up a metal bar that was (magically) by his feet.
Jun narrowed her eyes. "I don't care about all that. Hand over your samurai ghost." "Shut up," Yoh grumbled. "I have no intention of giving Amidamaru up. And definitely not to exploiters like you!" Amidamaru in Spirit Ball Mode was in his palm.
(Y/n) got into a stance, Kotone in her own palm. "I see.. You leave me with no choice, then," Jun said, throwing a talisman to replace the one on Pyron's forehead. "Battle spell activate! Pyron, punish those two!"
"Bring it on!" Yoh leapt up, metal bar in hand and Amidamaru in his palm. "Hyoui Gattai.. Amidamaru!"
Pyron blocked the strike with his nunchucks. "The legendary power of Pyron will teach you a lesson you will never forget," Jun spoke. Yoh was still mid air when Pyron grabbed him by the neck and put up over his shoulder. "Do you understand now? You cannot beat me," Jun said. "As you know, the only way to take a ghost is by incapacitating its Shaman.. In other words, to kill you. Now, hand over the samurai."
"I won't hand over Amidamaru..." Yoh said in a faint voice. "I see. You'd rather die," Jun said, taking out a talisman. She bit the end of her finger, causing it to bleed. With the blood, she began to write. "This is all it takes.. Pyron! Attack, and don't stop until he's dead!"
Jun threw the talisman to replace the one on Pyron's forehead, and the corpse's eyes glowed red. He threw Yoh up into the air. "Dao Dan Do.. Rocket Kick!" Pyron flew up into the air, kicking Yoh in the stomach, then kicked him in the back downwards. "Continent Verge Missile Leg!"
Yoh was sent launching down at a pile of trash bags. But Pyron wouldn't miss a beat. He went to kick Yoh in the face, but that was when something suddenly stopped him. (Y/n) was glaring harshly into Pyron's lifeless eyes. Jun eyed the girl with a tint of amusement and interest. "She actually caught Pyron's kick! "
