One day in the house of the Wests'.
Elizabeth was in the kitchen, making breakfast. Avayah was in her room, doing homework. Arlo was reading a book on the couch. Joseph was going from room to room to fold and put up laundry. "Avayah, Arlo...breakfast is ready." They both run to the kitchen table, ready to devour whatever is on their plate. "Where's your father?" Elizabeth said. "He's doing laundry," says Avayah. "Mmm, okay," Liz said. "What were you guys doing?" she asked the kids. "I was in my room doing my homework," Avayah said. "And I was reading a book on the couch," Arlo said. Elizabeth was excited to hear those answers, for she had been trying to get them to do them for a while now. "Well, good for you," she said. "But I want you to do more than just read and watch TV. I want you to get out there and do something." Elizabeth said. "Like what? "Arlo asked. Elizabeth thought for a moment. "I don't know...maybe go play in the park or something." The kids were excited by this idea and started talking about which park they wanted to go to. Liz went into the kitchen and started cooking breakfast while the kids talked. Joseph walks into the kitchen and sees Liz cooking breakfast. "Hey, you're up early," he says. "I wanted to make sure that everyone was fed before school." Liz nods her head in agreement as she starts to put the food on plates. Joseph takes a seat at the table and begins to eat his breakfast. The kids come into the kitchen and take their seats. Avayah looks at her father with admiration. "Daddy, can I ask you a question?" she asks him. Joseph nods his head in response. "Do you like writing?" Arlo and Joseph look at each other in confusion. Elizabeth looks at her husband in surprise. Joseph nods his head again. "Yes, I do," he says. "I love writing. And what about you miss," he said. "I don't like I very much," Avayah said. "And why is that?" said Joseph. "Because it makes my hands and wrists hurt," said Avayah. "Mmm, are you done with your homework?" Elizabeth said. "Yes, ma'am," Avayah said. "Good," Joseph said. "You can finally take a break," he said. "Thank you, Daddy," Avayah said. "You're welcome," Joseph said. The kids start to get up from the table and head into their rooms. Elizabeth looks at her husband with a smile on her face. "I love our kids," she says. "They're amazing." Joseph nods his head in agreement as he finishes his breakfast. Then Joseph gets a call. It's from Dan. "Hey, what's up, man?" says Joseph. Hey, do you remember we have that trip today," Dan said. "Yea, I remember," Joseph said. "Bout to get ready now," he said. "Good," says Dan. "See ya later," he said. "Well, honey, that was Dan. We have a trip to the park today," Joseph said. "Why dont you take the kids with you?" Liz said. "No, its only for the guys. We are going camping for a few days and planning to go hiking and all that good stuff," Joseph said. "So you're just gonna leave me with the kids. See, that's not fair," she said. "Then take them to your sister's house. I'm sure they'll have a good time there," he said. "Anyway, I better get to packing. I'm sorry, honey," Joseph said. "Yea, you better be," Elizabeth said. Joseph ran to the bedroom to get all his things packed and came back to give Liz a kiss on the cheek. "Bye, honey. Love you," Joseph said. "Love you too, babe." Liz said. Then Joseph was on his way out the door.
