One day in the house of the Bartleys'. Jack was making lunch for his wife Treasa and his two kids: Ezra and Denise.
Ezra was eight years old and Denise was six. They were playing in the living room when they heard a knock on the door. Ezra ran to answer it, but Denise stayed put. "Who is it?" Ezra called out. "It's Matt," Matthew replied. "Let me in?" he replied again. Ezra opened the door wider and let Matthew in.
Denise saw Matthew for the first time. She was scared, but she also felt excited. Ezra had never seen Matthew before. "Hi," Denise called out as Matthew walked in. He looked at her and smiled. Treasa came into the room behind Jack and greeted Matthew. "Welcome, Matt," she said. "I missed you, bud," Jack said as he hugged Matthew. Ezra and Denise both giggled at them. Jack set a plate of food on the table for Treasa, and then his kids. "Hey, bro. You want anything to eat?" Jack said to Matt. "No, I'm good, bro," Matthew said. Treasa went and sat at the end of the table........The kids sat down at the other end of the couch. "What's for dinner, Daddy?" Ezra asked. "I made macaroni and cheese," Jack replied. "Yum!" Ezra said as he started eating. Denise watched her brother eat and then she ate too. Then Denise and Ezra both get ready for a nap. "I'm going to bed now." they both said. "Okay, I love you two." "Love you too, daddy," they said. Denise and Ezra went to bed. They were both tired from the day's events. "So what do you got going on today, Matt?" Jack said. "Oh, nothing. I just thought I'd stop by and hang for a while," said Matthew. "Oh, then what's up?" says Treasa. "Nothing much just wanted to chill with buds...and the mini buds. But they've gone to sleep now." Matthew said. "Yea, they always take a nap after lunch," Jack said. All of a sudden, Jack's cell phone rings. It's Dan calling. "Oh, guys, it's Dan. I'ma take this." he said. "Yea?" says Jack. "Hey, I totally forgot we planned that trip to the park. It's today, right?. Are we still going?" Dan said. Jack looks over to the calendar and sees that today is National Forest Park Day. "Oh yea, I totally forgot about that," Jack said. "So are we still going?" Dan said. "We should call and check with the other fellas," Jack said...."Yea, I'll do that," Dan said. Jack hangs up the phone and tells Treasa and Ezra what happened. "Y'all, the guys and I are going to the park today." So Jack goes to his room and starts to pack up a camping bag. He packs a his clothes, a utility knife, a tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camping pillow, flashlights, extra batteries, and other hygiene-related items. He then comes out of the room and goes to his wife and gave her a kiss. "I love you. See you later," he says before leaving out the door and heading to meet up with the others.
