One of my all time favorite songs is Viva la Vida by Coldplay. Coldplay is one of my favorite bands. Their songs all touch me in different ways, but this one specifically reminded me almost exactly of one of the 2 books im currently working on writing. This song is actually based off of King Louis’ long last speech before his death, which i actually find quite interesting. I love the vibe it gives off, and how the song feels like a story that you maybe would read in a book, like mine. The lyrics “I used to rule the world, seas would rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone, sweep the streets I used to own.” Is the majority of my book all summed up, which i can’t talk about to much here because there’s way to much backstory, but basically Viatrix is destined to be the queen the elves have needed for almost a century, and claims the throne, beginning to fix some of the problems the elves have created. She soon finds out she has a sister with opposite motives to hers who is also eligible for the throne, and because of her evil heart and desire to rule, she easily seizes the throne, but hurting many people in the process. I know it’s not anywhere close to what the song is about, it’s just how I interpreted the lyrics. I also really like the instrumental version. I’m just amazed at how Coldplay came up with this song.
