In the ruins of thier world, what can be done? After everything, what is left?

A short story I did. Part of a later book

Fran, torn out of the ground awakes to a completely new world. Greeted by thier creator they live in destitute poverty, where the people are marked as strong or weak at birth. A strict soceity enforces that peoples behavior is within the confines of their mark. Fran is born without either, What can they do? (ps. this is a rough draft not the final thing, and will improve it as I go)

Trapped within a foreign robotic body, a robot awakes aboard a spaceship without memories of the past. Their soul along with many others were given to an organization called the "Mk Ed" a company that specializes in the transformation and examination of "potential greats". Mute and while enduring intense pain can they prove their worth to the organization? To themselves? A kind Doctor and the person that led them aboard the ship hold the answers.
