The year is 2100. The world has become over populated with birth rates skyrocketing while the death rate fell to a near zero. Scientists could not explain the sudden birth rate increase. Nations around the world tried to limit how many children a family could have, but it never worked with birth rates still going up. With no other solution, they went with the most deadliest option.
They made any sort of killing legal, meaning anyone at any time can kill someone and they won't get in trouble, no punishment , anything. People were hesitant at first, throwing protests around the world. They soon came to fruition after the government started killing people en masse for anyone who participated in these protests. The people came to realize that it was pointless to resist as it only resulted in more casualties. It didn't take effect immediately, obviously there were some people who took advantage of the situation and killed people. Mass panic around the world as people were now killing a lot. Having death rates be the highest in human history.
Over the past several years over 7 billion people died. Birth rates remained the same and it only dropped a little bit. 5 years later, the mass panic dropped and people have become used to the violent nature in the streets. Though death rates were still lower than birth rates the government gave an incentive for people to kill. They added a leaderboard for people, whoever has more kills than the average person gets certain benefits and gets more money and protection. This incentive made people go on another killing frenzy. In the United States alone 30 million people died all in one month. One guy came out on top, and he was the one that killed over 10 million people that month. His name is Runasi Haruhiko.
This man was the person with the most kills at the end of the frenzy and the most kills in the whole entire country. Runasi did all of this only using a bat. He was given a high end facility where he was heavily guarded. Runasi was not pleased with his new life, he felt a sense of loneliness and boredom. He loved fighting, so he came up with an idea.
He turned his facility into basically an arena where he invited anyone to come and face him in combat. The rules were very simple, you will have to fight him with your fists and he’ll be fighting with his trusty bat. People saw this as unfair but he didn’t care, he really just wanted someone else worthy to fight him. To his surprise no one came. He then realized that because no one had a reason to try and kill him. So, he came up with a new rule. “If you kill anyone you also take their kills” Meaning whatever kills that one person had will go to the person who killed them. This made people more eager to take on the challenge.
That was nearly 20 years ago, Now Runasi has gotten 900,980,000 kills from all of the arena battles he’s done. No one has ever come close to even touching him. He is, without a doubt, the best fighter in the world. Today, the birth rate and death rate are the same and the population of 15 billion is stable. It doesn’t seem like the population is gonna go up for a very long time.
