It was a normal day for ???, they got up and they ate their meal. Then they went on a daily routine like normal, but as they went on their walk, something came behind them. They tried to walk away from the incoming shadow that gazed upon them, but their feet didn’t move. They look down, to see their feet stuck to the ground by the figure behind them. They looked back, but they couldn’t clearly see what the figure was. “Who…are… you?” They shivered, clenching their fists in fear.
“Your. Worst. Nightmare.” Something came flying to their face, but they couldn’t make out who It was and what It wanted.
???’s eyes slowly opened. Their breath echoed in the small, cramped, chamber. They looked through the circular, glass window, and what they saw was different. Animals, walking and talking like people. They were the human equivalent of furries. But they weren’t cosplaying like what ??? remembered. They were actual anthropomorphic animals. Their fur was connected to their bodies. Not just super glued on…
The leader was a wolf that had black fur, with short streaks of red and blue. He wore lab goggles, and behind him were some of his lab acquaintances. They all looked bland, with only some monochrome colors, with a possible red or blue. But for the short time, they were still able to look, one of them caught their eye. They couldn’t get her name, but she had a beautiful theme on her fur. It was blue and had a beautiful Ocean theme. They don’t know if she was biologically born with it-if they even are biological-or if she painted it on her, but either way, she was very eye-catching. She also was a wolf.
After Their quick little scan of their surroundings, the window became blurry, and Their vision was slowly fading. A bright, flashing light came in their direction. They don’t know why, but after the light was finished, the window was blocked off by this goo. They sat down in the chamber, a faint glow came through the tiny crack the goo couldn't cover. They were scared. They wanted to cry, but no matter how hard they tried, no tears could come out of their eyes.
They heard a faint conversation
“Name?” One of them asked.
“???” Another replied. They talked back and forth.
“Location?”
“XXXX XXX XXXXXX”
“Age?”
“??”
“Gender?”
“----?”
They went on and on, but ??? didn’t care. Their talking helped calm ??? down.
Another lab partner then came in and talked to the other 2.
“Sir, I have Animato! It’s kinda sad looking at him. I remember talking to him all the time,” the lab partner lamented, “I hope this experiment works! I’d love to see him again.”
Another voice answered, “Yeah, yeah, we all know you like Animato, Dr. Steel.”
??? didn’t say a thing inside the chamber. They were too scared to say anything.
When the scientists finished their chat, ??? started to hear footsteps. They become louder and louder as time goes on. Then, it stopped.
Suddenly, he spoke…
“So, ???,” the lead doctor chuckled, “Ready for the procedure?”
??? said nothing.
“Scared? That’s common.” His tone sent shivers down ???’s spine. “If you don't want to speak, so be it. I’ll continue. I don’t even know why I’m even telling you this. I told none of the other subjects.”
“Like they're even alive anymore,” he chuckled, a dark noise that almost sounded inhuman. “You are going to be fusing with one of our passed “friend,” and you will forever merge with him. His name is Animato. He has very interesting, musical-like fur.” ??? looked down at their own arms, wondering what they might look like if this procedure was successful.
“He is what you all call a furry. And I just want to let you know. If this fails, you will be disintegrated. But oh well, not my life on the line…” Why was he so calm about this? Who could do this to anyone and be so calm? But the doctor’s voice sounded darker as he added, “Hope you make it out successfully.”
For the first time, ??? finally talked. “How many… died?”
“We have tested this on about 75 people,” the doctor sighed, seemingly annoyed by ???”s question. “All have died. Disintegrated. Nothing was left of them after they died.”
The fear that is in ???’s heart grew bigger, as they heard the machine outside start to rev up. Before anything else happened, he passed out from the “fear” that was balled up inside them.…
