INT. BLUEY'S CAGE - NIGHT

Bright blue lights shine toward the center of the stage, where BLUEY stands on a beam. An image of ANGIE is in the backdrop with a full moon in the distance.

BLUEY

(dreaming)

Am I finally getting a girlfriend? She's blue like me! I can finally not be jealous of my buddy PEAR anymore.

The lights suddenly turn yellow.

BLUEY

Will she like me? What will she be like? Will she preen and love me, or will she be selfish and steal all of my food?

Pear and MIKA enter and peck Bluey awake.

PEAR

Are you dreaming again?

BLUEY

Oh, I didn't see you there. Yeah, I am.

PEAR

She'll come when the time is right.

BLUEY

I'm just always so jealous of you because you're younger than me yet already have a girlfriend!

MIKA

You know, I had a weird dream, too. I dreamed that another blue budgie is here to be with us! Let's just hope it's true.

The door slams shut with ELIZABETH screaming with joy and running onto the stage, carrying Angie in a cage with her parents.

ELIZABETH

Bluey! Bluey! Angie is here! She's your girlfriend now!

All the birds fly toward Angie's cage, chirping.

BLUEY

ANGIE

Hey, hey, hey, slow down. I'm different from you all.

PEAR

How so? You look like a bird. You're blue like Bluey and have a beak.

ANGIE

I'm already three years old in human age.

PEAR

Well, so is Bluey.

ANGIE

That's not the point. I've been a caged bird for all my life. I don't know how to fly properly because I've only been in this cage day and night for as long Bluey has been on this Earth.

MIKA

Don't worry! As a flock, we all help each other out and train each other to become better versions of ourselves! Who's in for Angie?

BLUEY

PEAR

Elizabeth opens Angie's cage door.

ANGIE

Can I come out, you guys? I'm scared!

BLUEY

Of course! You're an excellent climber, so you can just climb to the door opening area and take a leap to freedom! Do it! Do it! Do it!

Angie climbs her way out and flies out.

ANGIE

My wings are getting tired! How do I land?

PEAR

Stop flapping and trust yourself to glide with the wind.

MIKA

Bad instructions! There's no wind! We're indoors!

PEAR

Focus on one target...like this rock!

BLUEY

No! That's your favorite rock, Pear! She's gonna steal it and take over!

Pear points to the rock on the right of it.

PEAR

No, it's this one!

Angie flies over and lands on top of the correct rock.

ANGIE

Ow! Why is it so rough?

BLUEY

We told you to focus on it, not fly on top of it!

PEAR

And it's rough because it's good for our beaks. It keeps it nice and trimmed.

BLUEY

You still bite pretty hard though.

PEAR

The rock is to keep my beak sharp enough to bite hard but not long enough to affect me eating my beloved seeds and millet. Speaking of them...

Pear flies toward a plate of fake millet and seeds and steps inside.

ANGIE

Wait, when are you going to finish? I'm pretty hungry now as well.

BLUEY

You can either safely wait like the rest of us, explore if other cages have more food, or take the risk and fight him.

ANGIE

I'm gonna use process of elimination. I'm too hungry to wait, and I can't land precisely yet.

BLUEY

I'm sure you can fly and land better with time and practice!

ANGIE

So you're going to fight him?

ANGIE

Do I have a choice? I've never fought a bird before. I've never seen other ones until now. Maybe when I was born...but I don't know.

Angie bravely jumps onto Pear's head and bites his crest.

PEAR

I think you're almost as strong as Bluey!

ANGIE

(bobbing her head)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Pear leaves the plate and lets Angie eat to her content.
