Once a child,

Once had hope and dreams,

of brighter things,

but it all came crashing down on me.

Big and strong,

No longer afraid of the dark,

but still afraid of a crowd,

not too small,

not too short,

and not too tall.

Whether I'm seven or twenty,

sadness does not discriminate,

I can be black white green or brown,

and still be down.

Breathing in the spring breeze,

remembering the horrors that I have seen,

thinking of the rains,

and the mud,

and cute little flower buds,

none of it can save me,
