"Do you think Harry had fun?" Lily asked, looking at the sleeping boy in her arms as they walked home from Trick-or-Treating.
"I dunno, wanna ask him?" James asked sarcastically.
"Don't you dare wake him up, James!" Lily warned.
"Yes, I think he had a lot of fun." James smiled at them both. "He was very friendly every time he knocked on a door. Why did everyone think we'd dressed him as some Christmas reindeer, Rudolph?"
"Would you rather I told them we dressed him as you?" Lily asked, rolling her eyes.
"Why didn't you?" James asked.
"Because all those people were Muggles, James." Lily explained. "They don't know about-" she cut herself off. "What happened?"
James looked up at their little house and realized what she was talking about. Half the roof was caved in, the door was blasted down. Windows were smashed, and chunks of the walls were blown out.
"You don't think," Lily looked up at her husband, who shook his head.
"Wormtail would never sell us to Voldemort." James insisted.
"Then what happened here, James?" Lily asked. "Someone tried to attack us tonight."
"Good thing you insisted on that silly Muggle Halloween tradition." James muttered.
"Should we check it out?" Lily asked.
"No." James shook his head again. "We should go alert the Aurors. If they must, they can interrogate Wormtail."
Lily nodded her consent, and the two left.
