You find a flashlight one day. The head revolves, allowing you to switch the lens. It goes from a normal light, to x-ray, to LED, to desaturated, to night vision, to orange, and several more.
What does the flashlight look like? How does it feel in your hands? What is it's power source? Where did you find it and why are you there?
Then there's one that seems broken. It doesn't have a light, but when you direct it on certain objects or people, something appears.
What does it show? A colour, an image, or a shadow? Or something you shouldn't have seen?
