"Thanks for bringing me some food, babe. The food here at the hospital SUCKS." My boyfriend, William said when I handed him a brown lunch bag from home.
I smiled at Will as he opened up the bag and took out the chicken sandwich and low salt chips that I have packed for him. My boyfriend, Will and I have been together for a year now. We were supposed to celebrate our anniversary a few days ago, but he ended up in the hospital. Even though Will keeps telling me not to worry too much about his condition, I can't help, but to want to stay by him twenty four seven just to make sure he's okay.
Will has Leukemia which means his blood cells are dying off. It's a type of cancer and you know whenever you hear that word, it's serious. No matter if the cancer is small or big. Anyways, when we brought Will in, the doctors quickly jumped in to catch the disease in time. They said that Will is going to have to undergo Chemotherapy to get rid of the disease from his body. All I can say from that is that I'm going to seriously miss his beautiful turquoise hair. I always loved running my fingers through them whenever we cuddle with each other on the bed so the thought of knowing that Will is going to lose his beautiful hair kinda upsets me, but I would rather have Will healthy than in bed dying.
Before I knew it, I was busy staring at Will's hair longingly then I reached my hand out and gently touch the ends of his hair like they were delicate pieces of a beautiful blue flower. I sighed sadly and pouted then I glanced at Will to see him smirking at me.
"Babe, don't worry. Once I go through Chemo and get rid of this cancer, I'll grow my hair back and dye it Turquoise again. I still have some dye left at home." Will said as he grabbed my hand then lightly kissed my knuckles.
I smiled softly as I watched him. I'm really glad that I have Will. I seriously don't know what I will do if I ever lost him. He's the most important person in my life.
"Anyways," I started, trying to change the subject. "Are you sure you can eat the sandwich and chips? I mean, I know they put sick people on a diet when they're in the hospital." I noted.
Will just shrugged as he held onto my hand.
"I think as long as there is no salt in the food then it should be okay to eat. Plus, you fixed this yourself instead of buying fast food so it should be okay. Though, I should probably ask my nurse just in case." He said then reached over for the call button and pushed it.
A few minutes later, Will's nurse walked in. She was young and pretty and had beautiful long brown hair. Will told me before that if he was into girls, he would be after her. Of course that made me feel a little jealous, but Will assured me that even if he was into girls, he would still be with me. To be honest, Will is my very first boyfriend. I never tried dating before because most high school relationships never last and they always consist of sex which I'm not fond of. I didn't want to give myself up to someone who I wasn't even sure was my soul mate, but after being with Will for a year now, I know he's my soul mate.
"Hey, Emil." Will's nurse greeted me with a smile.
"Hey." I said with a smile.
"So, did you need something, Will?" She asked him.
"Yeah, Julia, is it okay if I eat this food that my boyfriend made for me?" He asked.
"Lemme see it." She said then took the bag from him and looked the food over.
"Does it have salt?" She asked, looking at me.
I shook my head. "Nope and the chips are low salt. I even baked the chicken instead of frying it."
Julia smiled at me before handing the bag back to Will.
"That's good. It seems like you already know what Will can and can't eat."
I nodded. "Yeah. He was complaining about how bad the hospital food is, but I knew I couldn't fix him something fried with lots of salt like he likes. Though, I made sure the sandwich was still tasty for him to eat."
"What will I ever do without him?" Will questioned with a grin.
I couldn't help, but blush. I normally don't blush, but when it comes to Will flirting with me, I can't help it.
"Aw. You two are so cute. You're my new favorite couple at this hospital." She said.
"Really? What other couple is here?" Will asked.
"This elderly couple. His wife is sick so he comes here everyday to check up on her. I tell you, they are really cute, but you two are by far the cutest. You remind me of when I was a teen."
Me and Will both smiled at her compliment.
"Anyways, enjoy your food and I'll see you later Emil. Call me if you need me." She said then left the room.
"I still can't get over how awesome your nurse is. I wish I had a nurse like that when I broke my leg." I said to Will once we were alone again.
"I know, but it's probably because she's young. The other nurses that are here are older and a little stiff." He said as he munched on his sandwich then made a satisfied moan as he chewed his food.
I smiled as I watched him.
"You didn't bring any juice?" He asked once he swallowed his food.
"Sorry. I wasn't sure if I could bring the juice from home. It has a lot of sugar."
Will nodded then popped a chip in his mouth.
"That's okay. Just go grab me a couple juices from the snack room."
I nodded. "Will do. Be right back." I said then hopped out of the bed and walked out of his room.
I started to walk down the hall, heading towards the snack room. When I got there, I saw a really punk rock looking boy with Mohawk hair making a sandwich. I then noticed that he had a heart shape on the side of his head. It looked pretty cool and it was colored red. I walked into the room and over to the fridge to get out some juice.
"Hm...Should I get him Cranberry juice or Apple juice? Maybe both." I mumbled to myself then grabbed the two small juices from the fridge.
"Nice choice. I personally prefer Cranberry juice, though. It reminds me of red wine." The boy said with a smile.
I looked up at him because he's a couple inches taller than me. Now that I'm able to get a good look at him, I realized that he was pretty cute. I smirked.
"Really? Me too."
"So, who are you here to see?" He asked once he finished making the sandwich and wrapped it up in plastic wrap.
"My boyfriend. He has Leukemia so he's undergoing Chemo." I said.
No matter how many times I say it, I still can't get used to telling people that my boyfriend is sick.
The boy quickly frowned. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that."
I nodded.
"No matter how many times I say it, I still can't get used to the sound." I said, sighing.
The boy nodded. "I get it. Same here."
My eyes widen slightly. "Oh? Who are you here to see?"
"My grandma. She's really sick also. She has a tumor in her brain. They finished doing surgery on her so now she's resting. I'm here with my grandpa." He explained.
Interesting. He's here visiting his grandma with his grandpa. I wonder if he's related to the elderly couple that Julia mentioned before, I thought.
"Anyways, my name is Blaine. You?" He finally asked.
"Emil."
Blaine nodded then he went into the fridge and got out some juice. I watched him for a minute.
He sure is mysterious, though really nice, I thought.
Finally, I spoke up.
"I should head back. My boyfriend is probably wondering what's taking me." I noted.
Blaine looked at me and nodded. "Same here. Shall I walk you to his room?"
I nodded with a smile. "Sure."
The both of us left the snack room and started to walk to Will's room. When we got there, we faced each other.
"It was nice meeting you." I said.
Blaine nodded. "Same here. Maybe I'll see you around?"
I smiled. "Yeah. See ya." I said, waving goodbye then headed into Will's room.
"Finally! What took you so long?" He asked once I entered the room.
I chuckled as I walked over to his bed and sat on it then handed him his two juices.
"Sorry. I was talking to somebody. Anyways, drink your juice." I commanded.
"Okay, mom." He teased as he took a sip of his drink.
I smiled softly.

A WEEK LATER...
I yawned softly as me and Will finished up our card game then I looked at my watch to see how late it is.
"I should go. Visiting hours are probably over already and you need to get some sleep."
Will nodded. "Yeah."
I packed the cards up and put them in my messenger bag.
"Alright. Time for a goodnight kiss." I said then gently kissed his lips.
I pulled away and was about to hop off the bed when Will grabbed my arm and stopped me.
"No you don't. Give me a better kiss."
I smirked then leaned forward and kissed him passionately. I quickly pulled away, though to make sure our kiss didn't lead to anything. It would be awkward to start making out in a hospital.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I said.
"Alright. Night." He said.
I hopped off the bed and grabbed my messenger bag then waved goodbye to him before leaving the room. I pulled my bag over my head and started to make my way down the hallway, feeling satisfied after finishing another fun day with Will when suddenly, I heard a loud beeping noise. I turned then started to run back to Will's room, hoping that his room isn't the room that's making the loud noise.
When I got there, I saw Will passed out on his bed and his heart monitor was making all sorts of crazy noises. I ran over to him and started to shake his body.
"Will! Will wake up! Please!" I shouted, but he wouldn't wake up.
"Will!" I shouted again and before I knew it, I heard a bunch of footsteps entering the room.
Then I felt a nurse pull on my arm and started to drag me out of the room.
"No! Let me stay with him!" I shouted.
"I'm sorry, but you're going to have to stand out here." She said then walked back into the room and shut the door.
"Clear!" I heard a doctor say.
I slowly walked up to the door, feeling my heart pounding in my chest. I slowly peeked into the room to see all sorts of nurses trying to bring Will back to life. Then, I stepped away from the door once the doctor started to walk towards it. He opened up the door and stood in front of me.
"I'm sorry, but..."
I quickly shook my head.
"Don't. Don't say it..."
The doctor sighed then patted my shoulder.
"H-how...?" I squeaked out.
"I'm not sure. It was probably a quick reaction his body had and unfortunately, it was too quick for us to be able to save him." He explained.
"C-can I see him?"
The doctor nodded. "Yes. Take all the time you need, but know that we're taking his body to the lab tomorrow." He said then walked away.
I just stood there, listening to the doctor's footsteps walk away then I heard new pair of footsteps approach me.
"Emil," The familiar voice said.
I slowly looked over with watery eyes to see Blaine.
"Is he..."
I nodded, not wanting him to finish his sentence.
"I'm sorry."
I shook my head then walked into the room. I slowly walked up to Will's bed and peered down at his motionless face.
He looks so calm. Almost peaceful like he's sleeping, I thought.
I slowly cupped his face with my hand and then in a second, I felt my legs collapsing under me. I suddenly felt Blaine catch me in his arms and held me up.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nodded. "I will be." I said then stood up.
"You want me to stay with you?" He asked.
I shook my head. "No. I want to be alone..."
Blaine nodded.
"Alright. I'll be outside if you need me." He said then started walking out of the room.
I looked back to Will's face and gently rubbed my thumb over his cheek then I leaned down and lightly kissed his still warm lips. I wanted to savor his warmth for as long as I can before his body turns cold.
"Even though we shared our last kiss, I never got to hear you say you love me..." I whispered softly to him.
