Some things never change.
I got on my horse. Readied my sword. A joust was always for entertainment.
I caught your eye. Gave you a wink. A smile. We were always a couple in love.
I walked into the joust head on. Never flinching. I've always had confidence that good would win over evil.
My opponent grinned at me. This was just for fun. Friends always found ways to make you smile.
We leveled our swords. The crowd fell silent. Tension always snaps quickly after it builds.
The swords clanged, the crowd cheered. People always love a show.
Some things do change.
Horses and carts were replaced by carriages, carriages by cars.
Kings and Queens were replaced by parliaments and presidents.
Magic and mystery were replaced by science and logic.
Books and newspapers were replaced by TV and computers, and are still being replaced today.
Yes, sometimes things change.
But if Guinevere and I have learned one thing throughout our centuries of life, it's that the things that never change, are often times the things that make life worth living.
A/N: I wanted to write a piece based around King Arthur and Queen Guinevere living for centuries secretly, and Arthur relives some of his "glory days" so to speak by taking a job as an actor at a medieval festival, where he is one of the competitors in a mock joust. I know it's not very good, but it's the best I could come up with. :/
