Captain's Log - 13.214 - The Valour
Passed the Isle of Deil. Generally without hold ups, but at one point an ominous cry was heard, not coming from land but from the open ocean. The crew were scared, but I managed to reassure them, telling them that it was but a whale. However, I myself am not too sure of my own explanation.

As I stepped off the airship onto the long platform, the village seemed a pleasant enough locale, with no indication of the anomaly I had been sent to investigate. According to the the note I had been given by the Head of Cryptobiology at the University back home, my contact would meet me at the pier, and so I headed towards land, looking for anyone who might be waiting for me.
As I walked down the long pier, I spotted a diminutive figure waving at me beside a small building, which appeared at first glance to be some kind of tavern or inn. As I headed over, I noticed that the person hailing me was not much more than a boy, and an oddly dressed one, for that matter. He wore a tunic over a long baggy robe, and wore a richly-decorated scarf around his neck. He headed over to meet me midway.
Once we had met, the boy introduced himself as "Aladay", and as a resident of the next island over, Deil. He motioned me towards a small outrigger canoe, and said "I will explain why you're here on the way home. However, first, I imagine that you are in need of food and something to drink."633Please respect copyright.PENANAPemIjOh9jk
After Alday had procured some money, he bought me a drink and some "Dalipoy" - a "local delicacy". I wisely only gave it a ginger taste at first, however the combination of tastes was actually quite pleasant, reminding me of the food we sometimes got at the university. We walked back down to the boat and set off for the island, and an explanation.
