I put my hand on his arm, in a supporting manner. He looked at me, with a sad smile, and touched my cheek. This wasn't easy for either of us, but this was the way it had to be.
I stood up. There was nothing to say. Or so I thought. As I grabbed my suitcase, and started heading to the door, he grabbed my free hand, and knelt down, got tears falling down. "Please...if you leave...I-I can't live without you in my life. I apologize, for every argument, every remark, every incident." It hurt me to see him this way, thinking about the life we had planned out.
I shook my head, and he stood up, looking at me in pure pain, finally realizing there was nothing he could do. I sighed, and opened the front door. I dragged myself out the door, and my suitcase with me. I refused to look at his face.
However, as I shut the door, I unintentionally saw it. It was stained with tears, and he looked like his heart had been ripped out. It basically had. It went for both of us. I dragged my suitcase down the steps, and got into my car.
As I drove, Ben was at the forefront of my mind. Crying more than I ever had, I kept thinking about him. How could I ever forget that face?
