The land was a beautiful place for centuries. It was a place blessed with gods and goddesses. The land had magical creatures and non magical beings. It was a place of peace and beauty under the gods ruling. A world always lush with green grass and plentiful harvest. With rivers weaving through the lands and many mountain tops. It had thick forests with plenty of prey for all the people. It had never seen harsh weather or natural disasters. Even the rain was calm and warm, breathing life into The Land. The people of the land lived happily and long lives. They did not know war or crime. This lasted for many years, until certain being became too power hungry for their own well being.
The gods were loving and caring but were not to be crossed. They became angry and petty. Shocked that their children would dare to defy them after all the peaceful years, and become greedy power hungry creatures. The Rebels thought they had the right to become gods and rule the land. These simple minded species craved power and birthed violence into the land. They started to fight and attack other settlements. Taking what they thought was rightfully theirs. Forcing the others to take up arms against them. The rebels then waged war on the gods sending the peaceful land into a civil war.
The Gods Children began to form. It was all the species who were happy with the gods rule and raised arms to defend them. This included humans, dragons, werewolves, vampires and the witches. They were all happy with the gods and knew that angering the gods would make everything worse. The rebels with included the Demons, Pixies, Djinn, Drakes, and Dark Magicians fought to end both the Gods and the Gods children.
The war waged on for centuries, a world that didn't know what bloodshed was became it. Families were broken, homes were destroyed. This happened until the gods decided that enough was enough. Caelum, Terra, Nox and Luna the gods of the sky, earth, night, and moon grew tired of Their children defiance and passed Judgement. They turned the rebels into hideous beasts known as Jesters. Then out of spite for the Gods children not being able to stop the Rebels, the gods abandoned the land. Turning the once wonderful paradise into a war trampled waste land. Leaving Gods Children in the monster filled land.
An army based near the front lines called Grimland started to fight the Jesters. However these giant humanoid beasts with a taste for flesh became too much of a challenge they decided there was only one way to stop the murdering of the beings left in the land. The Commander of the base Thanos Ravenwood a dragon and powerful being decided to cower in order to save his people. He had the witches within the base raise giant stone walls around it. Keeping the people safe and the beast outside the walls. He became the first king of Grimland. Threw the years his line has kept the throne and kept relative peace.
In the beginning of this new rule he made certain changes and laws to help keep the peace and keep as many alive as possible. There were designated places for shifters to let their inner beasts out to keep others safe. Shifter and magical beings were not allowed romantic relationships with humans due to the significant power difference. Killing between each other was strictly prohibited. All these laws were created into the Supernatural Conduct Accords.
They also created a new branch of the army it was named the Forsaken Legion. It was a branch were the crown sends petty criminals or criminals with military background to fight the front lines against the Jesters. If you weren't sent there you would be sentenced to death. The Grimlands didn't have room for a prison or for thereto be people idle around. In this wasteland you had to earn your keep or you couldn't stick around.
Embracing Pain may be the only way to make it out alive. However will Thana learn this before it is too late? Or will it be too much and drown in the thoughts and pain of others?
