Funfact: I probably spelled Tislia wrong and am too lazy to check on the google doc I have :D
So I wanted to share some background information on the story I made as well as other things regarding it and the people involved, mainly because I love to talk about it and because I like Dungeons and Dragons.
For the people who don't know, Journey of Tislia is based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign I'm currently in- it has three arcs at the moment (technically four, but I squashed two of them together out of laziness- might change when I get to arc 2 on the story). This story has been going on for about four years at minimum, six at max since me and my friends started it.
At the start, aka Arc One, it was mainly just small one shot adventures featuring the first three characters- however, it soon developed into a group of more people as arc two came as we introduced some friends and my brother to the storyline to join in on the fun. It was late arc two or early arc three that me and the Dungeon Master decided to make it into a story- albeit he gave up at the end of arc one while I kept it up as best I could with low motivation, haha. The story itself has been re-written from Raven's perspective maybe four times, the fourth being on this website.
However, a small issue has come up; a lot of the campaign was verbal, so arc two is very hard to do, as I have the memory of a dead rat and lack a lot of context, leading to a lot of story lines being dropped or heavily ab-libed as well as characters being removed (Mainly ones who got dropped in three sessions or had very little interactions to work off of). Another issue was that Arc Three got revamped recently, and the DM skipped a portion of the start, so I have to ad-lib that as well to the best of my memory.
Of course, given how long this campaign has lasted, there is also some weird plot points or odd story lines, since we've had to improve over the years- and it's also gotten somewhat darker as its progressed as well.
Now, here's some info on the characters involved- at least in arc 1;
Jeff is a square-jawed human fighter with brown hair and copper eyes- he was the first NPC (Non-playable character) we've ever had, and also the first to join the party outside of me and the player of Vex. He still lives to this day, and has had a lot of development as a character- which I'm proud of the DM for! He's always been fun to interact with since he often comes off as protective to my character, and watching the two interact is kind of funny whenever it gets sarcastic.
Next is Vex, who was a PC (playable character), whose a female Changeling whose mute for the most part besides speaking Owlbear- which never really happened, haha. Now, the player had issues outside of the campaign, and after arc one, never really played again besides VERY small sessions in arc two, leading to me being forced to remove the character to avoid her just... existing in the background staring. She went from a wizard to a rogue between arc one and arc two, given she was more built on that idea than a caster, though we kept the magic part in arc one on the basis of "Maybe she just stopped using magic cause eh."227Please respect copyright.PENANAzzzBBKANGx
And now my favorite of the original cast; Raven. He's the character I play as, a small stereotypical wizard who has a streak of bad luck. Despite the pronouns I use for him, he's fully male- I usually use they/them to make it easier to tell if it's him or Jeff doing an action, and because Raven himself doesn't exactly care about falling into the gender norms- which is also funny because he grew out his hair just to spite someone. 227Please respect copyright.PENANA6C6tOiaopO
Ironically, he became more feminine in appearance due to me and my friends memeing on him; for the teens and young adults, you might already know why- Teen Titans was our favorite show, and having a wizard named Raven... Well, the DM often called him a "she" by accident, so we made an entire joke on it to make him scrawny and with more feminine features (large eyes and thin frame, usually with longer hair)-it didn't help that I once drew him in a dress either. He's a half-elf with Moon Elf blood, so his appearance was always kind of funny to everyone; pale skinned and light-lavender eyes and then very dark hair (which I usually color purple because full black is annoying to shade)- and usually his ears are covered.
In the future, I might actually post references of some of the characters, since some are fun to draw- mainly Raven due to how I shape his hair in this fluffy mess of curls and waves (weirdly satisfying to draw). I do have a few images already, but they're decently dated so I might re-draw them at some point. Might post a redraw of Raven soon-ish
So that's my ted-talk, thanks for coming!
