Ruby awoke in pitch-black darkness. The prince was sleeping beside her. Silently, she untangled herself from his embrace, getting off of the bed. The window was open, so, she walked soundlessly over to the window, climbing down it. While she was climbing, Ruby's foot slipped, and she fell, landing in an ungrateful heap. 234Please respect copyright.PENANA7tKCHNgYlb
"My, my Ruby," She looked towards the source of the voice; a figure was lounging on the lower branches of the tree, watching her. "You sure know how to make an entrance." Ruby scowled, glaring at him.234Please respect copyright.PENANA2nyFr0bhVl
"Are you going to come down from there and talk, or are you going to just sit in that tree Obsidian?" She asked coldly. "Last I checked, your Hardness is 5, so I could shatter you." Another figure revealed himself, stepping from behind the tree, the moonlight glinting off of his long, grey hair.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Ruby," The gem said quietly, glancing up at Obisidian. "Obsidian's mistress wouldn't be pleased that you broke her favorite toy. He is quite fragile." Ruby took a fearful step back.
"Y-You're...Diamond!" She spat, pointing at him with a trembling hand. "You crippled Bloodstone! You're-" The gem raised a hand for silence.
"The Diamond you're speaking of," He interrupted. "Is my brother, White Diamond. I am Grey Diamond." He gestured to his hair, long and grey, which hung past his slender shoulders in a curtain of soft steel.
"White Diamond has brothers?" Ruby asked. "When I saw you, and the other Diamonds, I thought..." Grey smiled softly.234Please respect copyright.PENANA5UcDjS4gqP
"Our mistress likes our hair long and unbound." He replied. Grey glanced up at Obsidian, who was beginning to climb down the tree carefully. "So, what did you bring us here to discuss, Obsidian?" He asked. "We certainly aren't here to chat." Obsidian rolled his eyes, continuing to climb down the tree carefully.
"White Diamond has been on a gem-shattering streak," He started, sitting at the base of the tree, running his hands through spiky black hair. "He hasn't been killing the gems he's been shattering, but shattering their limbs, as he did to Bloodstone." Ruby frowned at this.
"Why hasn't anyone told?" She asked, and Grey shrugged slightly.
"Why would they? White's a diamond and a bloodthirsty, vindictive one at that," He replied quietly. "He'd make their lives miserable, toying with them." He rolled up one of his long sleeves, revealing scratches and faint bruises. "I should know."
