A/N: Set at around the start of book 2 sometime. Spoilers for book 1 for context - https://bookbrief.io/books/keeper-of-the-lost-cities-shannon-messenger/summary
See, Sophie's life gets anything but ordinary and each chapter leaves you wanting more so I decided to write my imagination of what an actual, normal ordinary day would be like.
I'll provide context wherever needed, so anyway -- enjoy the story!

"SOPHIE! SOPHIE! WAKE! COME! FLY!" A loudspeaker went off in my head, startling me awake. I could barely sleep last night, and there was no way I was going to take any sedatives.
"Ugh, Silveny, let me sleep..." I transmitted back, eyes barely half open. I also displayed images of whatever I remembered from my dream, showing how peaceful my sleep was.
My alicorn decided to counter it with more adventurous pictures, of us flying together -- an experience I will never forget after landing in her glittery number-two. She also transmitted a picture of the morning sky, which as far as I can tell, looks like it was around 8 AM. A quick glance at the huge wall clock in front of me prove otherwise - 8:30. "WAKE! WAKE!" Silveny's mental voice in sister yet again.
As I sat up in bed, I clumsily kicked my blankets away, not feeling bothered to make my bed. "You're up early," came a sarcastic female voice, as the footsteps grew louder and louder till they reached my door. I looked up and saw that it was Edaline, there to wake me up.
"Sorry... I guess I overslept." I replied sheepishly, tugging at a loose eyelash as I wondered whether or not I was supposed to call her 'mom'. She definitely behaved the part, but I was still worried. Besides, she was still coping with the loss of her own daughter, Jolie, and still feared fire. (Jolie died in a fire) Hell, she was even afraid to take Sophie in as her daughter for a while thanks to an accident.
"You have school today. So come on, we have to go fast." she helped me onto my feet, and looked into my brown eyes with a smile.
"Thank goodness we can light leap in the Lost Cities. No traffic issue." I said with a chuckle, forgetting for a moment there than Edaline would have never experienced human road traffic before. "So it won't take too long."
"Light leaping can be dangerous, Sophie. We have indefinite lifespans, but we're not immune to death." she said, conjuring up a plate of cookies. I had no idea what kind of cookies they were, but they looked delicious, and I was positive their taste was no different. As I bit into a cookie, Edaline started talking to me again, her hand on my shoulder. "I'm proud of you, Sophie. Inflictor, Polyglot, Telepath, one of these days the Council itself would be threatened by your power. Foxfire will help you train."
"Heh, if that day ever came, I'd be in Exillium, if not Exile itself. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this... Level Three."
"Just wait till you see the mascot... Jolie hated it, it's ridiculous."
"Well... we'll see. Until then, I'm just hoping things go normal - well... for a human who just found out she was actually an elf."
Little did I know, I had enough adventures to fill around 10 novels coming up...
