Episode 45 - Her Butler, A Monster
It was cold but hot at the same time… the wind was blasting in my ears, and I could barely hear anything.
Sebastian told me to close my eyes, and I listened to him for once, letting my lashes fall as he took care of this task in front of me.
But I could feel Sebastian’s aura swarming around so crazily… the insanity in the darkness, the sharpness of the wind, the bitterness of his anger. I could feel it, and I could live it.
“Master,” Sebastian said then, voice dark and so distorted, it sent chills through me, “it’s time to start counting.”
I swallowed something hard, clenching my fists at my sides as the wind around me howled louder, bursting through my ear drums.
But I spoke then, “Ten.”
The sharpness of the cold sliced through me, making the bitter wind swing my hair over my shoulders and into the darkness ahead of me.
“Nine.”
Edward yelled from a distance, footsteps trotting along the courtyard as he dodged Sebastian’s attacks.
“Eight.”
A sudden wind slammed into the ground, bursting through my ears as I winced.
“Seven.”
Edward yelled again, swinging through the air with his hands, and I could… hear it.
“Six.”
“Satan!” Edward yelled then, but another force slammed into the ground. “You tricked me!”
“Five.”
Sebastian’s chuckle filled the entire area, covering me in a daze and a sudden paleness as the darkness consumed me.
“Four.”
His laugh was the sound of death himself, promising to murder every ounce of your sanity and offering nothing in return. A true demon, a dark creature… the devil in disguise.
“Three.”
The darkness around me grew, swarming my hair around like a hurricane, and I squeezed my eyes shut tighter, clutching onto the bench under me in hopes of keeping myself steady.
“Two.”
Edward screamed in a high pitch, like suddenly consumed in agony and couldn’t control himself anymore.
And then a loud, deafening explosion sounded, but instead it being the sound of a building bursting outward and scattering among the cobble grounds… it was the sound of flesh and bone.
“One.”
And then it was silent. The wind lessening to nothing but a small breeze, and the darkness lessened.
The air filled with warmth as if became winter to summer within a minute, and the dark aura around me vanished into nothing.
I parted my lashes then, hesitantly scanning the area in front of me.
My eyes widened as my breath caught.
There was blood everywhere, covering the grass, the stone walkway, and the walls of the church. Small bits of flesh spread among the ground like pieces from an exploding balloon.
Sebastian stood in the middle of the void of gore, smiling as he stared off into the distance.
His entire form was covered in blood, his hair, his clothes, and his skin.
But he looked normal now… no longer that demonic presence that I could sense around me. He looked… human.
I wondered how he could fool me so.
There was almost nothing of Edward left, just slabs of skin and small snippets of his clothing. It was like he eradicated from existence.
I tried to stand from the bench, but a sharp pain struck through me, and I fell forward.
But Sebastian caught me, making my breath catch when he helped me back on the bench.
“You’re injured, master,” he said gently. “Don’t walk.”
I gazed up then, seeing his eyes soften when he guided me to a more comfortable position.
I just reached out and cupped his cheek, making him gaze down at me curiously when I ran my thumb along his cheekbone.
I wiped off some blood that rested there, and his eyes softened.
Somehow, I wasn’t afraid of him and what he was capable of. All this blood and decay surrounding us… how he only did it in ten seconds. How the darkness swarmed me and squeezed my heart just enough to make me fear for my life.
I wasn’t afraid.
Although… I was glad I kept my eyes closed. This was enough gore for me to witness.
Sebastian just caught my wrist and pulled my hand away from his face, running his fingers along my knuckles.
I leaned forward then, closing my eyes as I leaned forward to kiss him.
He just set his finger on my lips, stopping me.
I gazed up then, watching him curiously as he pulled away and smiled.
“There’s one more thing,” he said gently.
I watched as he stood, hand slipping from mine as I slightly reached out to him.
But he walked away, making his way over to a small article of clothing that Edward left and he knelt down, picking it up.
It was a tattered pocket, it seemed… a pocket left from his suit and tie.
Sebastian smiled and slipped his hand inside it, lashes lowering when he caught onto something, and he pulled it out.
I stared.
It was a vile of some sort… filled with some soft, clear liquid—like water, but a little more blue—and I stared as Sebastian walked back over to me.
“This will solve all our problems,” he said then, chuckling a little.
I blinked hazily.
Sebastian stopped in front of me and raised his wrist.
He smiled then, teeth sharpening into their demonic needle-like texture.
But he just sliced his teeth into his wrist, making me gasp in surprise.
He drank his own blood, filling it into his mouth before he popped open the lid of the vile and drank it, as well.
I stared, entirely confused.
Sebastian smiled then, kneeling and tipping my chin up.
And his lips fell on mine.
I drew back in surprise, but he caught the back of my head to prevent me from moving.
What is he doing? Is he trying to get me to drink it? That’s disgusting!
He must have… a reason, though.
He always had a reason.
Sebastian pressed his tongue into my mouth, making my cheeks shade a dark red when the liquid behind his lips flooded into me.
I winced, not particularly enjoying its bitter, tangy taste, but I eventually stopped fighting him and drank it.
He kept his lips to mine until I swallowed it all, and he pulled away.
My breath shook when I gazed up at him, and he just smiled, lightly raising his hand and licking a drop of blood that slid down his wrist.
“What… was that?” I demanded then. “That was disgusting.”
He chuckled then, brushing his thumb along my lip to wipe his blood away. “I apologize, master, but it would only work with demon blood mixed with it.”
I stared then, brows drawing together. “Huh…?”
He smile was wicked, and his lashes lowered. “You asked me before how I would feel if you died. I told you that I wouldn’t be able to handle it. When you die, your soul will transfer into another body, and then another, and I never know when I’d be able to find you again. Edward had the key to preventing this issue, and I’ve been searching for it. This potion was stuck in the archives in hell for the longest time… but he stole it. I killed him, it was now mine, and now it’s inside you.”
He tucked some hair behind my ear. “I don’t want to eat your soul, master. I want to live with it… forever.”
I stared, blinking. “What did you do?”
He gazed up at me then. “I made you immortal.”
I stared at him then, breaths stilling as I questioned if he was serious.
He made me immortal? What? Without my permission?! I was ageless?!
“You can still get injured,” Sebastian said kindly. “You may be able to get sick, but your immunity is heightened, you will never age, and you will never die.”
I breathed for a moment and stared at him.
But a small smile formed on my lips, making his lashes lower.
“You, sly demon,” I said then, making him smile, as well. “This was your plan all along, wasn’t it?”
“You’ll never leave me, master,” Sebastian said then, brushing his thumb along my lip. “You are mine.
“Forever.”
