Last time, Charles texted James, she would go visit on Friday. James found a hiccup in the plan. His mother is off. Oh no, my mom is home. James thought. He walks towards his mom. Hey mom, don't you have to go to work on Friday? James asked. They did not call me in. Siân replied. She looked down at her phone. Your estranged father asked about you earlier. Siân replied. Why would he ask about me? He has a family of his own. Why does he care? James replied. Give him a chance. He wants to get to know you, James. Siân replied. Mom, he has constantly disappointed you and I. I'm sorry, mom but in the back of your mind, you still have that glimmer of hope that he will apologize for hurting us. James replied. Your father is trying, James. Give him a chance. Siân replied. Mom, f••k that man. James replied. Are you making dinner? Siân asked. He washed his hands and started prepping the food. As he cooks, his phone goes off in his pocket. He looks down and smiles. James, pay attention. You're about to burn the food. Siân replied. No, I am not. James replied. What are you making? Siân asked. I am about to boil the linguine noodles for the Cajun Shrimp Scampi. James replied. Yes, you're making it? Siân asked. He rolls his eyes and keeps cooking. As soon as he finishes, he texts Charles. Mom, the food is finished. James replied.
James: You texted me earlier?
Charles: Yes, I wanted to make sure not to be awkward.
James: No, you 're fine Amber
Charles: I wanted to know, then on Friday or Saturday.
James: How about I pick up and bring you over?
Charles: That's fine. 97Please respect copyright.PENANAQx8wlBN0W8
James: Alright on Saturday.
Charles: See you then.
James smiles.
You must be in love, James? Siân asked. What do you mean, mom? James asked. It's been years since you smile like this. Siân replied. 97Please respect copyright.PENANAgCCSiyplG3
James got a call.
James: Hello.
Agwe: James, how are you?
James: What do you want from me?
Agwe: Why are being hostile. You are acting like your mom.
James: You called me. I can easily hang up on you? Don't talk about my mom.
Siân grabbed the phone.
Siân: What did you say about me, Agwe? I want you to keep this in mind, I can make it where you can not call and or see James.
Agwe: Why are you like this? I want to spend time with him tomorrow.
Siân: I don't believe you. You've been saying this for years.
Agwe: Why don't you believe me?
Siân: Agwe, I can count on my hands how many times you kept your word to him.
Siân: Keep your word or else.
James just looked at his mother's infuriated face.
She gave him back his phone.
Agwe: James, I wanted to see if you wanted to go to Haiti this year for your eighteenth birthday?
James: What is in it for you?
Agwe: Why are you being like this?
James: You never invited me to Haiti before. It was usually "your family". As I said before "what is in it for you?"
Agwe: Do you want to go on not? Your being difficult too. It runs in the genetics. Tell me your decision by Saturday.
James hung up.
He took his food up to his room and ate it.
James calls Charles.
James: Hey. Charles: Are you ok, you sound as if you were fuming.
James: You can say that.
Charles: What would you like me to make you, James?
James: Can you make pancakes or omelette?
Charles: Something similar to what I gave you last time?
James: Yes that would be nice.
Charles: That means.
James: I have all the ingredients at my house so your good.
Charles: Sure? James: I'm sure, Amber.
Charles: What day?
James: Saturday.
Charles: Alright see you then.
You seem to like this girl from your voice. Siân replied.
Mom, why are you in my room? James asked. It's my house. She sounds like a sweet girl. Siân replied. She is a sweet girl. At times I don't feel as if I am not worthy of being around her. James replied. You are worthy of her. I know it. Siân replied. She kisses him cheek. Just remember this, you'll know if you are worthy of her. Siân replied.
Stay Tuned.
