"Amity hurry up we're going to be late!" Lilah yells at me pulling my arm. Her frail fingers were sure to leave a mark if she tugged any harder.
"If you yank my arm any longer, I won't have an arm left." I joked.
Every Night it's the same routine, after work Lilah and I rush into the woods. When we were younger, we found a hidden place where we could finally let our imaginations run wild. I couldn't help but think of those simpler times. Where our only fear was getting lost.
"Amy, isn't it beautiful? Open your eyes." Her voice was full of hope. I Look up, catching the unique colors swarming the sky. I embrace the sounds of the birds chirping and the fresh air that filled my nostrils. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I never thought that something so beautiful could exist in this world.
"Are you done daydreaming? because we're here," She giggles staring at me with intensity. Taking a step further and my mind starts to wander alone. All my senses come to deep clarity. I felt a cold breeze inside my trapped body. A speck of bumpy dirt under my overused shoes gave a shocking wave. And then I heard the melody of my favorite song coursing through my veins.
We glance at each other, and I bend down on my knees to get closer to the ground; indicating its time. My fingers joined the grasp of the dirt and I could already feel the other side. As the breeze begins we are ready to do the transformation.
Minutes later, a chambered door appears. We step forward, having us almost knocked down. Once we enter our souls rip apart. It's a feeling I simply cannot describe.
That's a relief. I didn't think that would take longer, I hate being home. Lilah whispers into my head.
When we first discovered this dimension we couldn't quite talk. Which was strange considering what jabber mouths we both are. Also, it wasn't at all very pleased we had to make it a little adjustable for our likings.
You could say that again. What are we doing tonight that's so important you were eager to come to, Lilah. I whispered annoyed. I stared at her for a quick second and she's looking straight ahead with a wry face. As scared as I was, I take a glance startled of what's in front of my face.
There was a hill not too long of a walk from where we always get landed on, the people here call it the dragon's castle. No one's allowed inside without access. I've heard rumors that the famous dragon feeds when he's disturbed. Other ones were tales about the water being poisonous if drunk. But I never back down from a challenge.
Lilah and I step forward, holding the hands of each other scared...
I wake up scared. What did I dream about?
