I Instantly panic, My cheeks began to go red, my palms sweat. I hear the loud thump thump thump of the principals heels. “Thump thump thump” my heart pounds. “Charlotte lets go” my mothers lips pressed firmly against another she holds her purse so tight her knuckles turn white. I follow behind head down praying for her to forgive me. We reach her car I side into the back seat. My older brother, Thomas in the front seat with a smirk on his face. My mother gets in the car and slowly pulls out of the fire lane. A faint echo of the radio mums in the background. I stare out the window petrified of my consequences. Regret fills my body, I begin to prepare my please forgive me speech “ it’s because of peer pressure,I’m sorry, it will never happen again.” The drive is agony, we arrive home “get to your room” my mother says in the faintest voice; I rush out the car and run up the front steps. “Stop smirking” I hear my mother snap at Thomas. I lay in my bed with thoughts rushing through my head playing over and over like the drive in theater playing Jaws. I hear my fathers car roll up and my mother say “she’s in there.”
