Hi again! I'll get right to it this issue: I'll be instructing you guys on the sidebars you find on the home page (I'll get to things like publishing stories eventually, don't worry, but you need to know how to move from the home page!)
Let's pull up our reference again, shall we?
And then, we need one more for later...926Please respect copyright.PENANA5AfjZUG5Yr
All right! Now, let's go to it!926Please respect copyright.PENANAMDZRHI1iuY
I'm sure you have realized by now, there is a longish sidebar to the left of the stories on the home page. From the top to the bottom, below the home button, we have:
Write a New Story!: This is where you go to create a new story. Once clicked, it will redirect you to a new page where you can select genres, rating, collaboration settings, and the like, which I will go over later.926Please respect copyright.PENANAjpUMoujHIw
Stories: This is what is automatically selected on the home screen. Here, you can see all the stories others have published. You can also sort into category by fiction or non-fiction and genre if you so wish from the drop-down menu.926Please respect copyright.PENANAighQy04fgG
Contests: If you hover over this, there is a drop-down menu, where you can either enter active contests, or see closed contests that have already been finished and judged.926Please respect copyright.PENANAqPb6fVheTT
Blogs: Writers on Penana can start up their own blogs, to write about whatever they wish. You can create a blog under "Write a New Story!", and you can see all the blogs via this link.926Please respect copyright.PENANAO5gm4gbMsH
Writers: This is a comprehensive list of all the writers on Penana, and you can choose through the drop-down menu whether to see all writers, writers who have just joined, or writers who double as beta readers. I sort of fangirl at the options for finding people here, but that's probably just me, huh?926Please respect copyright.PENANANUbvuIxQWY
Recommended Writers: Recommended Writers is a list of 5 writers that Penana generates for you can check out. It changes with each refresh of the page, so there's always someone for you to look into!926Please respect copyright.PENANA1iqF5xy3dY
Suggested Societies: Suggested Societies is like Recommended Writers, except for societies you might want to join. These don't change at every refresh, but they do feature some of the more popular societies, including Find Your Writing Buddies, which I suggest you join if you haven't already, because it's sort of a catch-all for everyone to meet up. I actually find a lot of co-writers and ideas on there, and there are places for you to request feedback, and it's generally a useful society to be in.926Please respect copyright.PENANArizx2EsX6F
The picture between Writers and Recommended Writers is advertising foodpanda's writing contest, featured at the time I'm writing this (I suggest you join if there's time, but that's just me).
Now, shall we look at the center? I'm sure you've already realized, but that's where the stories are. But, there are things you can do in each of these to sort through the mass of stories to find what you may like to read.
These settings are just above the list of stories. You can change the book view to a list or grid, search for stories, contests, societies, or even writers, and look from trending stories to stories with fresh updates, hot-of-the-press stories, and look at charts for the most liked, read, or commented stories on the site. You can look for completed stories, or stories that need collaborators, if you want to help someone.926Please respect copyright.PENANAOEpVefagyF
And then, there is the more options tab. I found this recently, and by recently I mean like this week and I've been on here for probably almost a year, and it has such options as showing only stories that have less than a 5-minute average reading time per issue, show specific ratings (people who don't like R-rated stories, I'm looking at you all!), and the language of stories and the general site. Handy, huh? Once again I really wish that I had found this sooner but hey at least I can help you guys!926Please respect copyright.PENANAmDlcFDtFNc
Well, that's about it for this issue. Let me know what you guys want me to cover next!
