In a world filled with drones, flying cars, robotic animals, robotic assistants, and genius scientists, nothing seems to be able to go wrong right?
A world where half of the world is replaced with greater technologies, where scientists fight to create the greatest creation ad yet there is but one who is suffering.
In a lab, Fendrick struggles with his inventions. This was his last chance. He had to prove to the other scientist that he was just as great as them but nothing seemed to work.
"I will create an invention that will change the world please just give me a chance!" He pleaded earlier and he was given the last chance. He immediately regretted his outburst.
The thirty-three-year-old man scratched his head as he looked at scribbles of mathematical equations and formulas in his notebook. He tore and threw it and then rewrote whatever he wrote again.
He glanced at his watch. The head chef was coming over to inspect his new invention that would change the world any time now.
This was the end. He lived his life on science but now he was about to witness it go all in vain. He decided to gather his stuff. He began packing his things in a box.
"Can you believe him? An invention that can change the world? Who does he think he is?" One scientist said as they made their way to Fendrick's lab.
"A sore loser that's what!" Another replied and they soon snorted with uncontrolled laughter that echoed throughout the hall. They finally arrive all three of them, they spot Fendrick carrying his box of inventions at a particular desk.
"Look, he is already packing." The first one said. Fendrick finally noticed their presence and walked to them.
"You were right I can never be in the same league as any of you and so I have decided to quit."
"What? You are quitting?" The third one, the head chief was surprised. He thought that he would be the one firing not Fendrick quitting! "That's great. At least now the population of bad scientists is reducing.
The three left. Fendrick had gathered his stuff at a corner. He looked at the lab one last time absorbing the last air of the lab. All memories in the lab immediately come flashing into his mind. He had left his wife and son for this lab all in vain.
One thing was sure he couldn't go home. He didn't know how to face them. He finally locked the door knowing it won't be opened for a long long time. He left.
Unknown to him something tragic happened that night. Suddenly there was an earthquake and a liquid chemical poured on all his inventions opening up a portal. Unlike all the portal usually mentioned in a book, this one, was filled with heartless monsters that may have hated all humanity.
One by one they began walking out of the portal and destroying everything in the lab. The door was destroyed the widows were broken and soon they were outside.
And just like any alien invasion book they started attacking the poor humans crushing them as if they were lifeless dolls. Now the human world was in chaos. But not everywhere.
Meanwhile, all this was happening Fendrick was relaxing in the underground vacation lair that he built for whenever he needed a vacation. Of course, this was the first time using it.
"La, La, La...." He hummed an old song that was made in who knows when, as he walked from the kitchen to his sitting-room in his bathrobe and slippers. He flopped on the chair and began eating as he watched whatever movie he had been saving to watch.
To him, life was absolutely wonderful. No need to worry about coming up with new inventions, just relaxing.
All the great scientists gathered for a meeting. They had just found where the monsters were originating from their building.
"Call him." The head chief said and no one moved. What he heck would they be doing there if they didn't try to call him! He had disappeared with no trace. No one could find him.
"Call the army!" The head chief ordered again and the scientists stared wide-eyed. What army? Didn't technology replace them with fighting machines, which by the way are being painfully crushed like the pieces of junk they are...
The head chief sighed he refused to believe the was no way to defeat these monsters.
Somewhere in the city of chaos three children Christopher, Stella, and Edgar happened to be heading towards the building of the abandoned lab belonging to Fendrick.
"Are you crazy? We should be running away from the monsters not to!" Stella reprimanded Chris.
"Then why did you follow me here?" Chris responded as he slowly opened the back door.
"It's because you are helpless without me!" Stella replied.
"That's not true," Chris said. They were now in.
"Who saved you when you threatened the guard robots? Who saved you when you were about to kill yourself?" Stella named her heroic actions.
"I wasn't trying to kill myself! I was just going to dive!"
"Dive into a pool of acid? How great!"
"It was a test!" Chris argued.
"A test? Are you even hearing yourself? You--"
"If the two of you continue any further, we will be caught!" Edgar spoke up and the two shut up.
But unfortunately, someone or something happened to spot them.
"You there! Stop!" The robot spoke up.
"Run!!" They all began to run through the hallway. Unfortunately, there was another robot in the front.
Soon the three children were being carried to the head chief.
"I knew it!" Stella said.
"Oh, could you pick a better time to lecture me?" Chris said.
"Oh no, we are doing this right now right here! Who knows whether we are going to be killed! I can't lecture you if you are dead!"
"SUrprisingly you speak of death as if it's an easy thing!"
"Can't you two shut up!" The robots said with their robotic tone. They were carried into the meeting room.
"Sir, we found these kids roaming around."
"Who the heck are you three?" The head chief asked the children who were now placed down.
"Who we are doesn't matter, what matters is I save my father and get out of here!" Chris answered the man and everyone gasped.
"Who is your father young boy?" The head chief asked.
"Fendrick. He works here." Chris answered. Usually, when one would have said that they are family to Fendrick they would have laughed and mocked them. But this time was different. We are talking about a man who built a machine that changed the world. Negatively.
"Your father is missing. After making the portal he disappeared."
"What portal?" Edgar asked this time.
"The darn portal that is bringing the monsters here!"
"My father made that? Cool!" Chris exclaimed before being stepped on painfully by Stella.
"Do you know where your father is?" the chief asked.
"Nope. I guess if he is safe, Our work here is done." Chris says before keeping his hand behind his head and walking towards the door. He hated scientists. He blamed science for taking his father from him. He was immediately blocked.
"If you help us find your father we promise not to kill him." The head chief said and Chris let out a small laugh. "Won't kill him?"
To think scientists have stooped so low that they are threatening him with his father's life. He didn't care. He was only making sure he was safe for his mother's sake.
"I don't care." He said.
"Then, are you willing to watch as humanity becomes extinct?"
No. He wasn't. His plan was to go through the portal that the monsters came through. Since all of them are invading earth, he knew he would be safer there. So he wasn't going to watch humanity go extinct.
"Now--" Before he had time to continue the door burst opened and the giant green-skinned monsters walked in. They growled before aiming for Chris who immediately ducked. He grabbed his friends' hands and ran.
"Wait!" The head chief called out to him. "Think about it."
And so the three ran. Chris's mind was racing. He never once cared about anyone but himself. But this time was different. Everyone was in danger including his best friends. Chris knew exactly where Fendrick was.
"We are going to see my father." He said and the rest followed him silently.
~Tommm!!! and Jerrrry! On magical adventures!!! We gooo! Together fighting bad guys!!!~
Fendrick still in his bathrobe sang the new theme song of an old show called 'Tom and Jerry.' Since he had no neighbors he screamed his lungs out.
Ding Dong!
The sudden ring of the bell he never thought would be used brought him back to his senses.
Who could that be that found out his lair? He walked to the door armed with a pan. When he opened he was to see his son and two other children.
"Nice to see you too dad. I'm here to inform you that the world is in chaos because of your inventions." Chris said pushing the pan away from his face and making himself home.
"What? What invention."
"Your machine portal opener."
"My what?"
"Is that Tom and Jerry? I loved this cartoon!" Stella yelled pointing at the Tv. Soon she was watching.
"All the scientists are looking for you." Chris was now serious he stood up and faced his father.
"Son, why don't you go back to your mother--"
"What mother? Dad, she died. Of course, you left us how would you know? She died due to starvation. She would work and feed me and would never take care of herself. While you were busy doing your science stuff. Honestly you disgust me. I was hoping at least you would save the world--"
"Can't you see why I left! Because I couldn't do it! Your father failed--"
"If not as my father at least as Fendrick the scientist. Prove to me that the science you left us for was not in vain."
"I'm sorry...I can't."
"Fine." Chris walked to the door. his friends followed after.
"Where are you going...?" Fendrick asked.
"To try to save the people I care about my friends."
"But--" The door was shut on his face before he could continue. Everything he had chosen to forget came back to him. He failed his family...
Chris and his friends approached one of the monsters and ordered to talk to their leader. He wasn't sure they understood him but they were immediately carried up.
"Can I lecture you and your stupid ideas?" Stella asked.
"Maybe he understood me?"
"WE are being carried in order to be killed!" Stella yelled and Edgar could only sigh.
"You there!! Let go of my son and his friends!" Fendrick from nowhere approached the monster with a spear.
"Dad?"
"nac uoy ekat em ot redael?" Fendrick spoke to the monsters.
"Has your father gone mad?" Stella asked.
"Beats me." Chris shrugged.
"Erus! I ma eht redael!" The monster responded
"enif nac ew klat ti tuo?"
"Erus. ew ylno deen ene ngiht morf uoy, a vt."
"A tv?" The only word that the three children were able to understand from the conversation that went on to the point that Fendrick and the monster laughed.
Fendrick announced that the monsters were friendly and they only needed a TV! Since the portal was made accidentally, it now became a passway for humans, monsters, and technology. Fendrick was now a famous man who saved the earth with a Tv.
