I don't know why I still hang out with them sometimes. I have icks about each one of them. Aurelia's a very sheltered kid, and she doesn't seem to know how to read the room. Selena tends to be pushy sometimes. Thalia's too quiet for her own good. Nick being a straight-A student has a bit of an ego. Gallus always seems guilty, but nothing is his fault. Lead is very formal all the time, and I can tell he likes Aurelia even though she's dating Nick.
And that's another thing. Nick doesn't WANT to like Aurelia, and especially she, she secretly hates the fact that she likes him back. I feel like they're only dating because it just looks like the next logical step. Their brains are both quite logic-driven.
I'm friends... more accurately, acquaintances with them all individually. Aurelia and I sit together in some of our shared biology-related classes. With her roommate, we share a love of dairy products in general.
Thalia and I met online through Lead, who was already a friend of mine since middle school. But neither of us knew that Thalia would end up in the same university as us. I only knew her as Beryl, her online avatar.
Nick annoys me by his very presence sometimes, thanks to elemental manipulation classes, mandatory for all science majors. And I met Gallus briefly at Clara's pre-Elemental Ball party.
As a reporter for our four-monthly college newspaper, the 'School Heartbeat', I got word that his powers glitch like crazy. Rumors flew around for a while that he's radioactive, but what are the odds of that?!
Oh... as for me? My name's Kaylee. My element is calcium, which is an important component of bones. I'm majoring in medicine, and am looking to go into sports medicine, orthopedics or physiotherapy.
I'm part of the same batch as Lead and his friends. Makes sense, considering we were anyways put in the same class since seventh grade. I used to HATE him back then, and I even used to say that if we ended up in the same college, I'd drop out.
My friend, a girl named Aria made a comment on that. "Okay, but there's also the chance that you'd be each other's only known person, and would be forced to become friends."
Ari, you were right...we were, until I met my dormmates, two other girls.
One girl sings tenor really beautifully, probably courtesy of her helium. She herself is quite beautiful - just ask all the boys she seems to effortlessly pull. She's quite attentive and loves reading. She can name songs within seconds and has a pretty much got a library full of stories at home.
The other, she's hard to place. She's always up to some nonsense, be it guessing our classmates' powers or drawing something. She comes up with the wildest ideas. Hell, all the events after the bomb sound like something she would have come up with.
She reminds me a little of everyone in the other group.
She's aloof like Aurelia, kinda gutsy like Selena, techie like Thalia, overthinker like Gallus, a bit left-brained like Nick and she always seems a bit displaced like Lead.
I have icks on these two as well. Well, maybe some other time. But the point is, I feel closer to them and Aria than to the other group. I wonder how they all feel about me. How much of myself do I really show each group? Who knows?
Another element of mine is krypton. It reacts under specific conditions, just like me.
It's funny how people are so much like their elements.
