We were on our way to Yurinami’s fight school, and the last day has finally come. It honestly felt like a blur, every lesson that we had went by so fast. I don’t even remember any single lesson, except for the first two.
“Aren’t you guys excited?” Fred asked us. We all looked dead beat and tired, we were only like that because we all went to sleep late last night. Though, Fred is the only one here that has some energy. Most of us just wanted Yurinami’s fight school to be over, so we were all just impatient and cranky.
“Is no one going to answer?” Fred said, disappointingly.
“Shut up Fred, no one here is excited, just tired.” Jesse said.
“Ok, sorry. I guess.”
The rest of the walk there was in complete silence, the only noise being the footsteps we generated from our walking. It was awkward to say the least, but at the same time it was peaceful, knowing that what was coming up was an end to the suffering that is Yurinami fight school.

We reached the bright white building and we all walked inside. Slinca was sitting inside all by herself, she didn’t even look over as we entered the building. I didn’t want to waste my time going over to her, cause I knew that she wouldn’t even give me the time or day.
Yurinami was standing still like a statue on the stage, it was like something out of a horror movie. He was just standing there completely still, not even moving a muscle. His head was aimed downwards, it looked like he was gonna give himself scoliosis.
We all looked at Yurinami bewildered. Is this part of some act he’s doing since it’s the final day? Whatever it it, it’s super fucking weird.
The door closed behind us and the guards disappeared like they always do, but when the room lit up completely, it looked a little bit differently. There were three little cubicles the size of a bedroom. They all were painted white with a metal door on each of them, and no windows whatsoever. It was like a small little doll house was just placed in the center of the room.
Yurinami springed to life as the lights turned on, like he was an animatronic. He bowed down to us.
“Welcome Class of 2127, to the final day of Yurinami Fight School, thank you all for being here for the grueling two weeks. I know it must’ve been hard for some of you.” Yurinami specifically faced me to make it obvious that he was talking about me. “It’s been an honor of mine to teach you guys. Now, today is the final day and I’ve seen you all grow up right before my eyes. I’m like a proud parent. Now, you’re all here on the final day, which means I need to let you all go.”
God can he get on with it. I don’t want to hear all of this lovey duvet bullshit, it’s pissing me off so fucking much.
“Now, you all have been waiting and wondering what the final is gonna be. It’s gonna be a special one. I can tell you that.”
Holy shit he really is dragging this out, just fucking say it.
“The final is gonna be a reflection of what we did on the first day here. You might remember that we dueled each other on the first day here. Though we only dueled each other with fake weapons.”
I got an uneasy feeling in my stomach when he mentioned that we only used fake weapons, then it hit me like a sack of bricks being dropped on my head. We’re going to duel each other with real weapons.
“You probably already guessed what we’re going to do.” Yurinami snapped his fingers and the room transformed like it usually does, and the weapons rack came out. Instead of it being the wooden swords that were always there, they were replaced by the real deal. Real swords with pointy ends, glistening in the room light like it was just washed. Soon, those blades were gonna be covered with blood very soon.
“You’re gonna duel each other to the death.”

“What the fuck!” Fred shouted in anger. “What kind of final is this!?”
“This is bullshit!” Ian added on. “This isn’t what we signed up for!”
“You guys didn’t sign anything.” Yurinami said. “Also, I can do whatever the fuck I want. It’s my school after all.”
“Fuck you!” Penny yelled. “There’s no way we’re gonna do that.”
“Yeah!” Slinca surprisingly spoke up. “We’re not gonna participate. I quit!”
Yurinami started laughing maniacally. “You shouldn’t think about doing that.”
“Why not?”
“Because, once I give the signal, these guards will absolutely riddle you with bullets that your body will be almost unrecognizable. And if any one of you decides not to do this, I will shoot you all, no hesitation. Now, shall we begin.”
“No fucking way.” Jesse said. “This is so fucked up.”
Jesse and everyone else was expressing their hatred towards Yurinami, I just stood there. It’s not like I’m not shocked or angry like everyone else was, I wanted to say something, but the words wouldn’t form. Even if they did, it would be the same old insult like just saying fuck you. It wouldn’t be anything notable or something that stood out. So why should I even bother saying it.
“Settle down and be quiet or you'll die! Don’t want to hear your bickering anymore!” Yurinami screamed, and everyone’s voices went quiet, still furious over the final. “Now, let me finish. Unlike last time where you had to choose a partner, I’ve already picked for you. I picked your best match up possible according to your profile that I’ve written down.”
Yurinami reached into his pocket and pulled out a little notebook the size of his hand and started flipping through it. “There you go.” He said, landing on a page in the middle of the notebook. “Now, let me announce your match-ups. You’ve probably already realized how this is gonna go down but I’ll still explain it to you. Each one of you will go in the little box that I’ve set up. All of the matches will go at once, and whoever kills the other opponent wins and graduates from this school.”
Yurinami ended his explanation with a pause, like we were gonna cheer, even though he had a mask on, I could sense that he was giving a little smirk under it. I wanted to punch him so bad, he knows he wouldn’t be saying this to us if he didn’t have any guards around. He may look tough, but I bet if we all rushed him, we could kill him, easily.
“Any questions?” Yurinami asked us, like it was a normal classroom or something. “Good, then let’s begin.” Yurinami kept the notebook open in the middle, and slowly moved his fingers along the page, like he was reading it carefully.
“Now, the first match-up is-” Yurinami said and paused, to build up the anticipation.
“Lee vs. Slinca!”
My heart sank and my stomach growled, my head immediately swiveled to look at Slinca which she did to, as we looked at each other in shock. My heart was racing, my vision was getting blurry, I was pretty sure I was getting a panic attack. I was hyperventilating, this is the first time I’ve felt like this before, I was in a state of absolute panic. Me and Slinca were friends for so long, then she pushed me away, now it’s coming down to this. Will this actually be the day I never see her again? Fuck this school, fuck you Yurinami!
“Jesse vs. Penny!”
Penny looked over at Jesse in distress, and she started freaking out. Penny mumbled under her breath, and Ian came over to console her. Next matchup was pretty obvious, since there were only two people left.
“Ian vs. Fred!”
Fred looked intently at Ian, they were at odds throughout the first two days here, and now they became friends. Now, they’re gonna be at odds once again, and this time it’s gonna be brutal.
Yurinami announced the matchups and we were all distraught as he looked over all of us, putting his small notebook back in his pocket. He had a smugness kinda feel as he stared at every single one of us, taking a bit of self satisfaction from our pain.
My mind kept racing, I couldn’t really concentrate on reality anymore, and before I knew it, Yurinami said to go get the swords and line up at your assigned cubicle. Is this a punishment from god? Have I sinned that much? What did I do to deserve this!? I’ve done nothing wrong in my whole entire life, but…Eric. He’s the one that has put me in this situation in the first place, it’s all his fault!
“Lee!” Yurinami shouted at me. “Chop chop, let’s get moving!” Yurinami shoved me towards the weapons rack and I tripped a little but gained my balance. The shining steel blade of the sword glared in my face. I hesitated to raise my hand to pick it up, then proceeded to grab it with a stride and hold it close to me, like I was a scared child clenching onto a stuffed teddy bear. I’m now more scared than ever before, even when I was in the line with Eric, waiting for my impending doom against Runasi.
Slinca was standing over by the metallic door, waiting for the unavoidable fight that was about to happen. Along was everyone else who was lined up, the only person that wasn’t, was me. I hurried along behind Slinca, who didn’t even acknowledge my existence.
“The doors will open in a moment, just wait.” Yurinami said. “Once they do open, you all will step inside and begin fighting as you may wish. In ten minutes the doors will be back open and only one of you will. If both of you are still alive, you both die. Simple as that.”
We all looked at each other with worry, we all knew that only three of us would walk out of there.
“Guys.” Fred said. “Since we have time before we go, I think we should all get our final words in.”
“Good Idea.” Ian said. “I’ll start off. Even though I’ve only known you guys for a brief two weeks, you were honestly some of the best friends I’d ever had. I mean that, from the bottom of my heart.”
“I feel the same way as my brother.” Penny said. “I’ve never really had many friends when we were in regular school, so if I die. I’m glad that I met you guys.”
“Don’t say that Penny, you’re going to make it.”
“You guys are gonna make me tear up.” Fred said, almost choking up on those words. “I’m so glad I met you guys, you literally gave me a reason to leave my bitchass dad behind and start fending for myself.”
“I have nothing else to add on.” Jesse said. “You’ve literally stolen the things I was going to say. Honestly, I probably couldn’t say it better myself. What about you, Slinca?”
Slinca didn’t say anything or move, she was so focused on the metallic door in front of her. Out of everyone else here, she has the least connection with anybody else. The only other person she had was me, but…That’s all over now, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
“Alright then. Lee?” Jesse looked at me with her silky green eyes staring at me, how could I not say anything. Her ragged looking brown hair hovering over her face, covering a fraction of her pale skin and sunken in eyes.
“I’ll miss you guys.” I said, and it’ll be the only thing I say. The doors opened up and everyone took a deep breath as we all walked into our respective rooms. Slinca stepped in the room, with fierce steps, she walked to the back of the room. I stepped in right after her, and the door slammed behind me.
Now it was just Slinca and I in a slightly lit room with a dull gray floor and walls. This is it, the fight for our lives. I guess we’re gonna have a rematch of the first day.
Slinca turned around to face me with that sharp look she gave me, she was filled with determination.
