“I’m just sayin, we’ve been bustin’ our butts for this just for us to arrive and just like that BLAM. We’re out of the fire pits and into the blazing inferno.” Ratchet slouched a bit making sure she was against Logan — holding his arm — she stumbled a little bit, walking through the slightly bustling streets but the longer they wandered the quicker the desolation began to set in.
“Usually the saying is out of the frying pan into the fire.”
“Uh huh whatever Logan. This place quite literally sucks, like six layers deep into suckage. You ever just miss an idiot because everywhere is idiotic.”
“Missing your sister?”
“She ain’t ma sis, missing that idiot Vince isa different story in general. He was the more book savvy one of us, he’d been more into this nonsense than me so I can’t say what is wrong with this place in exacts but I can say that this place is rigged. It’s only helping those that draw from the artifact and those like us are supposed to be quiet about it. Or more so like me.”
“Glad I’m not just a paranoid freak.” Logan scratched his head looking around.
“Mhm. Also thanks for whatcha did for Mina, had ya not we would’ve probably been in a more compromising situation. I can tell people here know what synth skin looks like and they aren’t too pleased seeing you walk with me.”
“How’re my kids?”
“Ya think I want to hold onto you like a newborn? Your kids are fine, Mina is overloading my darn head with information. Every step, every breath taken, more importantly she’s marking waypoints for me to know how to get there and constantly- Well it’s best I keep shut. Your kids are fine much better than you’ll be if ya don’t eat a full meal.” Ratchet looked around spotting a nearby cafe, nudging Logan towards it. Stepping over he’d see Ratchet stumble off him and sit down on a nearby bench.
“What’re you doing?”
“Trust me, I’ve been around for longer than ya think. They ain’t gonna want me in there, I saw it already.”
“You’re a lady, I don’t care if they want you in there or not. They got an issue they can take it up with me. So far I doubt anyone’s gonna do that, plus you look more vulnerable than usual. If you weren’t getting an- uh?”
“Migraine?”
“Just wanted to make sure I didn’t mix your people with mine and cause an issue.”
“One of the few good things he’d said, "mixing us up together is more of a compliment than trying to find a word that separates us." Shows we’re all the same in the end.” Ratchet huffed rolling her eyes, she was always a loner and yet she’s been hanging around this idiot for two running on three weeks now. She’s gonna go soft if she keeps expecting him to have her back. Standing up she took his arm and stepped inside, Logan held the door open and helped Ratchet inside as he stepped forward. Taking out a small pouch he’d look at the woman at the counter and ask.80Please respect copyright.PENANAXP9eGpIvrO
“Can we have a double of-”
“No.” A man came over and pushed the woman to the back in a hurry, he was a taller man. A full beard and a sort of life ain’t done me no favors kind of look. However even despite this Logan kept on.
“Double of your most filling meals, Ratchet what would a burger count as around here?”
“Logan yo- are you dense?”
“What do they not eat meat here? No burgers?”
“No we have those just not named that but-”
“Okay then we’ll have two of whatever they’re called.” Logan heard an all to familiar sound, the sound of wood grinding against wood. Meaning someone was moving their chair, either to look or to leap.80Please respect copyright.PENANAipV4f7XMa4
“So do you want one?”
“LOGAN YOU IDIOT LET’S JUST LEAVE!”
“Wh- I have no idea where we’ll find another spot that’s open and I’m way too hungry to try and find another spot to eat at.”
“You’d be wise to-”
“Stay right? Yeah I figured the same thing, so yeah. Two of the- Oh there’s the menu.” Logan went to grab the menu and darted his hand to the side of a blade slamming into the wooden surface, he’d look at the blade and grab a menu nearby.80Please respect copyright.PENANAsPnMUZYrb3
“Can we take that table there? We’ll take that one there thanks.” Logan walked over and gently sat Ratchet down, she rubbed her head groaning as he sat down and ordered. Once he did he waved a waiter over, despite their glances and gazes the woman from before walked over. Logan politely ordered something and then some looking to Ratchet, she was too busy focusing on her processing. Ordering a few things Logan sat there just as someone stood up and pulled a chair over placing it in front of their table causing the woman to walk away in a hurry.
“Ya can’t be in here.”
“In a public restaurant?”
“Yes in THIS public restaurant.”
“I’m sorry are you the owner of this fine establishment? I don’t believe so, sir! Do I have to leave??” Logan called out and saw the owner just stare and look away, sketchy as he’d figured. The man proceeded to reach into his pocket, Logan saw a glare from the sunlight for a moment. Acting fast he smacked the man’s arm knocking a revolver out of his hand and grabbing him by the shirt raising him up in the air, his feet dangling as Logan looked at him and towards everyone else.80Please respect copyright.PENANAqGRbsQS9Lk
“Alright everyone listen up! I’m here because this woman I am with is in a measure of distress, if she wasn’t here I would’ve beat this man and the lot of you up and down this place in seconds. I’m pissed, I’m tired, and I’m hungry so do yourselves a favor. Shut up, sit down, and mind the manners your parents tried to teach you. Got it?”
“Chuck em out.” Logan looked over and saw that the owner had spoken up, without a word he smiled and opened the door and as he was told he launched the man out and into an oncoming garbage pile being pushed by. Ratchet groaned sighing as she looked at him.
“Here’s your order, is he your husband Ma’am?”
“As if, travel companion — as if I’d marry someone like him — I mean now it’s no wonder his son is an idiot. Look who he gets it from.” Ratchet groaned looking at the woman who had now returned with their food. Logan came back in, sat down and began to dig in. In a nice silence with Ratchet.
