The Khoikhoi people of southwestern Africa, primarily in South Africa and Namibia, have a well-structured culture with folklore and mythology that comes with interesting stories and even shocking descriptions. The focus of this entry is that among the Khoikhoi mythology lies the existence of a creature known as the Aigamuxa. Terrifying in nature and physical attributes it is described as a bipedal, human-like creature with razor-sharp teeth, and eyes on its feet. Now, the locals had expressed that it is quite easy to escape from the Aigamuxa given the fact they do run on those feet with eyes and must stop and do a handstand every once in a while to see what they are chasing, or which direction they are going in. On contrary, I had pictured it doing a handstand and chasing me down that way, which at first sounds hilarious but upon further elaboration, I picture the top-half of a threatened spider with legs raised in an aggressive stance, but the ends of those legs have giant eyes, and its diet is quite literally humans. Honestly that would’ve been far more terrifying and bone chilling to come into contact with… 160Please respect copyright.PENANAAvxPUnoYd4
Regardless, the Aigamuxa is a very aggressive cryptid that everyone would rather avoid than try to communicate with and befriend, though it would definitely make a great guard dog. Keeping it well-fed on the trespassers and offering it a home could be a great idea but then again as thrilling as such an experiment would be, I don’t have the courage to simply wander the sandy deserts as bait for it. The deserts are already grueling to traverse, so having to venture across boiling sands, under a blazing sun wanting to capture a purely aggressive and carnivorous creature is a bad idea in itself. Getting to speak with the Khoikhoi was still fascinating, and I had learned a lot more about the area they live in, as well as the folklore they’ve passed through generations. Information will always be quite valuable!160Please respect copyright.PENANAvzsZOiT3Qg
I do hope that in my future findings, I can make friends with more tribes, and people. Having those to rally as a close ally would not hurt either, given this has always been a dangerous race against time. 160Please respect copyright.PENANAbdJ9W70o9G
