We don't NEED to collab if you dont want to this is just a story thats been brewing in my head.
Anyway, Ive always felt that stories like warrior cats, Wings of fire, owls of ga'hoole, harry potter, etc. is that you can imagine yourself in the story. And while you technically can in any story, what makes these sorts of stories so different is that they have their own systems of identification and different sorts of groups that are each distinct from each other, where you can make an OC. Like if youre watching indiana jones you can imagine yourself interacting with indiana jones, but you cant make up a fictional version of you to be in indiana jone's world, because his world is so simular to our own that it wouldn't make a difference. But if you're imagining yourself in warrior cats, then you get to have your own name, clan, fur type/look, and you can fit yourself into this story as if you're apart of it. you dont have to imagine interacting with one of the main characters to still have a compelling and interesting OC. Its also why these sorts of stories attract such large fan groups and people are really compelled by them. They dont have to have the best writing or plot but people love the lore and being able to put their OC into that world. They get to go that extra step of being in that world and they can appreciate that more and then they like the bookseries more and are more loyal. 82Please respect copyright.PENANAdkcQW4PaKK
All that is to say that I was trying to find a story like that. One where you can have your own OC and actually imagine yourself in the world, not just interacting with the characters but being in the world.
So I *sort of* came up with a book idea. Its about these tribes of humans who live in the forest. But each tribe is connected to an animal and has that animals powers to some extent, for example someone in the frog tribe could jump higher and eats a lot of fish and bugs, someone in the bear tribe is very muscular and eats a lot of fish and berries, etc.
also another thing, they all have this myth that their tribe descends from their animal, and they also have this very rare ability to literally become their animal. So maybe with a certain ritual the bear tribe can turn part bear or the frog tribe can turn part frog. They also have other beliefs, such as there being spirits in the forest, that every part of the forest has some sort of spirit/energy (whether or not it is dead or alive) that things like plants, rocks, or even mountains can move on their own and have their own wills. Another belief is that they view the actual animal that their tribe is to be a member of their tribe and a cousin of sorts. So the bear tribe would view the bear as their cousin. This would also mean that other tribes would view other animals as a member of the other tribe, so frog tribe would view a wild bear as a member of the bear tribe.
Im not 100% sure what the story would be, I think it would be about somebody discovering fire and that they would be someone from the frog tribe, in the back drop of different tribes possibly going to war and turning into their half animal half human selves for strength.
anyway yeah thats the story lol
