After class, I decided to treat myself and Daisuke to some greasy food. I felt like I needed it after today's surprising adventure. I took Daisuke to the McDonalds that I sometimes visit whenever i'm in the mood to eat something unhealthy. I paid for both of our foods and we sat down in my usual spot which is a booth by the window. Right now is a good time to sit by the window because since the sun is starting to go down, the sunlight would shone through the windows and it would make the restaurant look interesting.
I sat in front of Daisuke and started to eat some of my fries. I watched him as he seemed to enjoy the greasy burger then I sighed. I still don't know anything about Daisuke. Maybe there are some things that he remembers. I took a sip of my soda and began to talk.
"I'm still curious about who you are and where you came from and also why you have a thunderbolt tattoo on your arm." I started.
Daisuke avoided my gaze as he bit down on his burger. I'm not ready to give up, though.
"Daisuke...." I started then my eyes caught sight of his thunderbolt tattoo. It still looked odd to me and it gave me an eerie feeling. I shook some thoughts away and looked back at Daisuke. He started to eat some of his fries but still haven't answered my questions.
"Daisuke, you can't honestly expect me to just...I don't know. Befriend you and let you live with me if you don't tell me what's going on."
Still, Daisuke didn't speak up. I sighed as I felt myself growing frustrated.
"Daisuke, if you can't remember anything then just tell me. Don't just sit there and-"
"I don't remember my name and I don't remember what happened to me before I landed on your doorstep but...this isn't a tattoo." He cut me off.
I sat back in my seat, taken back. I'm not taken back by the fact that the thunderbolt symbol on his arm isn't a tattoo but i'm more taken back by how he responded to me when he cut me off. He sounded...I can't even put my finger on it. He sounded sorta angry but also a little sad.
I sighed and nodded. "I see. Sorry. I'm just curious." I said softly.
Daisuke nodded then went back to eat. He kept his head down and his hair sorta fell over his eyes. I kinda wish he would look at me, though. I want to know if he's alright or maybe I should just shut up and stop asking him so many questions.
After a minute of awkward silence, I started to speak again.
"So...it's not a tattoo. Does that mean it's a..."
"It's not a scar either." He cut me off again.
I blinked my eyes then bit down on my bottom lip. It's getting kinda hard to keep my cool. He's hesitating with answering my questions and every time I speak, he cuts me off.
"So, it's...what then?" I finally asked.
Daisuke sighed then finally looked up at me. He stared into my eyes.
"It's a birthmark." He revealed.
Okay, now i'm really curious about this thunderbolt.
"How....how is it a birthmark? I mean...you're not Harry Potter right?" I started to nervously chuckle and I waited for Daisuke to chuckle too but he just sat there, looking serious. That's when I quickly shut myself up and waited for him to talk about the thunderbolt.
"I'm not Harry Potter. I...I was born different. Both my parents don't have the thunderbolt like I do...it's sorta like a curse..." He said softly.
"A curse? How is it a curse?"
"The power that I get from the thunderbolt is enormous and...i'm supposed to be killed..."
I felt my stomach drop. It felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I didn't get what Daisuke is saying. Killed? Why? What is this power he's talking about?
"Why...I mean..."
"There...there are a couple people after me. They're the ones that are trying to kill me. They don't want to risk anything happening."
I slowly nodded. I'm still confused but I kept my mouth shut so Daisuke can continue to explain.
"I don't like this power but I don't want to die either. That's why i'm on the run and the reason why i'm wearing your school's uniform is because i'm trying to blend in with the crowd. Go unseen so I wouldn't be captured."
"What about your amnesia?" I finally asked.
"While I was running away earlier, I ended up at your apartment building and hit my head. That's how I ended up at your doorstep."
"So...it's temporary?"
Daisuke nodded. "It should be."
"You said you couldn't remember what happened to you before you landed on my doorstep." I pointed out.
Daisuke nodded again. "I sorta remember myself running away but I couldn't remember from where and I can't remember how I ended up at your apartment."
"Were these people chasing after you?"
Daisuke nodded. "I...I think so. I...I just can't remember...Sorry."
I shook my head. "It's okay. You've told me enough about yourself."
Daisuke smiled softly. "So...Can I stay with you then?"
I smiled and nodded. "Sure. But...what makes you think they won't come looking for you at my apartment building?"
Daisuke's smile suddenly faded and he looked down. He shrugged. "I dunno. I hope they won't look for me at your apartment but...there's no guarantee that they'll just skip looking there."
I sighed and nodded then I looked out the window. "It's getting late. We should head back."
Daisuke nodded. "Yeah. It's kinda too dangerous for me to stay outside for too long."
Me and Daisuke finished up our food then got up and headed out. I felt super relieved that Daisuke told me about himself and this mysterious thunderbolt birthmark but now I feel sad for him that he has this crazy power and there are some people after him that are trying to kill him. Part of myself sorta doesn't believe that Daisuke has this 'power' or 'curse' but seeing how shaken up Daisuke is, it must be real.
