Eowyn stared out the window, this was after Aragorn's crowning and the battle at the black gate and Eowyn still felt changed from war. Her wound hadn't completely healed and she occasionally felt a shattering pain.
From behind her, Farimir walked up to her and held her hand. Farimir, the son of the dead steward of Gondor, he was one of Aragorn's closest friends and a ranger. That was one thing he and Aragorn had in common. And yet, Farimir treated her like no one ever had. Not even Aragorn himself. Farimir smiled warmly in her direction, Eowyn now felt that she liked him. He was strong and brave, and... He welcomed her skills as a fighter. He admired the warrior within her and embraced it. That is what Aragorn never did.
But he would soon have to go to war with the remaining orcs, sometimes he let Eowyn go with him, but not this time. This time there were hundreds of orcs waiting to ambush them at the fallen black gate. But Eowyn still wanted to go with him.
Farimir sighed and spoke to her, "You know you can't go with me."
"I know but I deny that in my head." She whispered.
"You could die there." Farimir said.
"But so could you, and I want to be with you when you die."
He turned to face her and asked one word, "Why?"
"You know why." Eowyn said, she remembered when they shared their first kiss, it was at this very window.
Eowyn faced him and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Farimir whispered to her, "It can't always be like this."
"Why not?" Eowyn looked into his eyes.
"The war, I will be gone, time and time again."
"Well it can be like this now." Eowyn reached in and planted a soft kiss on his lips. Farimir and is rangers mounted their horses, they were accompanied by soldiers of the tree and a few knights.
As he left, he looked behind him, he had wished Eowyn would be there. But she was no where in sight.
He and his men had one thought, "We will not survive this day." Normally everyone thought that when they went out to war with Farimir, but this time the shadow of fear was higher and riskier.
Eowyn tried to go with him, to disguise herself and ride. But she didn't have the chance. She ran outside and found that Farimir was already out of sight. A silent tear trickled down her face. She would not give up, she would reach Farimir. She then saw a knight in full armor walk out of the inn, he had missed the ride with Farimir. Eowyn then saw her chance. The old knight's name was Keleith Formagh, he normally never missed the ride to battle and he felt ashamed when he did.
"Keleith!" Eowyn shouted to him, and the knight recognized her immediately.
"Lady Eowyn!" He cried, he ran to her and hugged her. The old knight was a friend of Théoden's and he was like a grandfather to Eowyn.
"I was going to go with Farimir but I seemed to miss my ride." He said regrettingly.
"I missed my ride too," said Eowyn, "Maybe we can catch up to them on your battle horses.
Keleith raised an eyebrow, "...And Farimir let you go?"
Eowyn sighed, "No... But I want to go."
The knight chuckled, "I see you do. Let's go get you some armor and a helmet. Then we'll get our horses."
"Thank you Keleith, Thank you!" She hugged him tighter.

Farimir dismounted and kneeled down. He noticed orc tracks. About five hundred of them.
Farimir's second in command, Degul, trotted up to him, "Should we go back?"
"No..." Farimir said, "If we catch them off guard we can still win."
Farimir didn't know that twenty five feet away, an orc scout hid behind a large rock. The orc spat and silently crept away.

After Eowyn and Keleith had mounted, they set out.
"Alright," Keleith started, "Your name will be Ven Garrowinter."
"Alright..."
Once they were on their way, they found orc tracks overlapping Farimir's group. The orcs were following him. There were about one hundred and fifty of them.
Suddenly, orcs stepped out from behind rocks, a perfect ambush site. They captured Eowyn and Keleith and kept them prisoner.

Farimir and Degul rode towards where they believed the orcs were. Then, the ambush sprung. One hundred and fifty orcs, from the rear. With the element of surprise.562Please respect copyright.PENANAPknlRGYZAi

Eowyn and Keleith saw their chance. The orcs had mostly all gone to attack Farimir, only two orcs remained to guard them. One of them held their weapons and the other held a bloodstained scimitar. Keleith ran up to the orc with his sword and kicked it in the crotch. Then he punched it two times. The orc went down and the other charged toward Keleith. Keleith took his sword from the fallen orc and chopped off the other orc's head. Soon Keleith and Eowyn joined the battle and were attacking the orcs rear.
It was a bloodthirsty battle but eventually the Farimir won. Farimir sent for Keleith and Eowyn to reward them.
"Ah Keleith," he said, "It is good to see you, to be honest if you didn't attack the rear we would have been doomed. And who do you have with you?"

"Ven Garrowinter." Eowyn said in a gruff voice, not taking off her helmet.
"Garrowinter, eh? Well I'll remember that." Farimir smiled at the two soldiers, he needed more men like these.
"Thank you sir." Eowyn said in that same gruff voice.
"Your welcome. But next time, ride when we first ride off." Farimir joked. But Keleith took it as a command and said, "Yes, Sir!"
"There's a good man." Farimir told them they could go now and he got back to tracking. To the west of them, there was a mountain, and in that mountain, five hundred orcs readied their weapons, "Tonight."

Farimir set up camp and said, "We'll camp here. But I want scouting posts so we aren't ambushed."

Before Farimir fell asleep in his command tent, he thought of Eowyn, her smiling, determined face. He loved that face, he loved that smile. It had felt like heaven when they had kissed. He wish she was here with him now, he didn't know that she was less than fifty feet away.
The orc archers silently crept toward the scouting post, they readied their bows and... fired. The post set ablaze and the orcs moved on. 562Please respect copyright.PENANANyvZCD0TaQ

The attack came at midnight, the orcs slaughtered most of Farimir's men. When Eowyn noticed the flying arrows she ran to Farimir's tent. He was not there. He was lying on the ground with an arrow in his leg. Eowyn carried him to safety, while the battle raged behind.

"Farimir, wake up. Farimir!" Eowyn cried. It was morning after the attack and Eowyn and Farimir were the only survivors. Or at least Eowyn hoped they were survivors, especially Farimir.
Farimir gasped and woke up. His leg was bandaged, and the arrow was taken out. He was in a small tent and blankets were raised to his shoulders. Farimir limped to the tent door and gasped at what he saw. All the camps were burned. His men were sprawled on the ground with arrow shafts in their chest or head. Some of them had scimitar wounds. Then he remembered what had happened. The cursed elves had attacked in the middle of the night. He remembered his leg getting shot and then someone carrying him away. Then he passed out.
"Farimir?" Someone asked behind him. Farimir turned around and saw his soldier, he believed his name was Ven.
"Ven?" Farimir asked.
"No," The Soldier said, "Eowyn." He, or rather she took off her helmet, true enough it was Eowyn.
"Eowyn..." Farimir ran to her and wrapped his arms around her. And from then on, they would be together.
