“What were you thinking?” Eliet shouted at me. I was sitting in a chair in the closet. Logan had been taken away, much to my dismay. “I’m sorry, but I don’t really understand what I’ve done wrong,” I said calmly. Eliet reached out time, then pulled his hand back and closed it tightly in a fist. “Fine. You want to act like that, fine. You know exactly what you’ve done. I didn’t take Reaper as stupid.”
“I’m not stupid, I just don’t understand your insane reasoning!” I shouted at him. He cocked his head to the side. “I was really hoping I could get a rise out of you. Now, this can be easy,” he spat. “And what is that supposed to mean?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. “Well, Elias, it means I now have a reason to punish you. You raised your voice and argued against what I said. There have been changes here since you got captured. Though, we both know that’s not really what happened.” I gulped, a lump in my throat. “Now we have a stricter policy regarding punishments and what actions are infringements against our rules. Shouting, arguing, and using words such as ‘insane’ directed towards a member of the Elite has a very strict punishment. Come along now, it would be easier if we got started now. Maybe we’ll even catch the end of Logan’s punishment for conversing with you about matters regarding the rebels.” I stood from my chair and muttered, “By punishment, you mean torture.” Eliet whirled around to face me, anger seeping from behind his mask. “On floor fifty,” he seethed. “We do not torture. We punish, sometimes harshly, but these punishments are never ill-placed. Please follow me now. We mustn’t waste any time.” I bit back my tongue, following Eliet out of the room.

We walked out of the demon room and started down a hallway. Looking around, I saw no one else was near us. This was my chance. I’d lost my opportunity to save Logan, but I could still save myself. I started dragging my feet, putting a tiny bit of distance between Eliet and me. Then, I ran. Right into a wall. “Ow,” I grumbled. Looking at the wall, I saw that it was right behind where Eliet and I had just walked. A wall couldn’t just appear out of nowhere. Right? “I had a feeling you would do that,” Eliet sighed. “Thank you, Eelti, you may lower the door.” The wall lowered down into the floor, revealing Eelti on the other side. “Hello, Elias. How did things go with the demons?” he asked. I frowned, turning back to Eliet. “Let’s just go, okay? I won’t run again.” Eliet smiled. “Now, now, Elias. Lies are not necessary here.” I gulped, and we continued walking. 165Please respect copyright.PENANAMI3TZ4OlYy
