“So now I’m part of Gold Team,” I explained. I’d just recounted everything that had happened in the meeting with the leaders and with Gold Team. “So. Is Juliet here?” I asked. Maggie shook her head. “All of that, for nothing!” I exclaimed, tossing my hands into the air. “Where is she then?” Maggie shrugged and said, “Med bay.”
“Oh, great,” I grumbled, biting into one of the cookies. “What happened now?”
“She’s in surgery right now, actually.” My eyes widened. “Melissa talked to me before it started. You were already with… Gold Team, I guess. They’re trying to get rid of the demon. If everything goes well, they’re planning on doing Logan’s operation in a few days.” I smiled. “That's… that’s great. Why didn’t Melissa come talk to me about it? It was my idea to do the operations,” I said. Maggie shrugged again. “Something about not wanting to bother you while you settled in with Gold Team. Speaking of, Melissa offered me a spot on Jasmine’s team, Green Team. The training is less rigorous, and a lot more flexible. How are you adjusting to Gold Team?”

It was my turn to shrug. “It’s fine, I guess. It feels weird, though. The way the people think of Melissa and Mariah. Well, mainly Melissa. They’re scared, and aren’t getting the recognition they deserve. Before I was given a spot, I didn’t even know they existed. It just reminds me too much of the Elite and the demons. And the last thing I want is for us to become like them.” Maggie snatched the second cookie out of my hand. “I get that. I’ll talk to Jasmine about it tomorrow during training.”
“No!” I exclaimed. “Oh. Okay. Um, why?”
“I don’t want it getting back to everyone that I told you what they think of her. Melissa is kind of mean, and I wouldn’t put it above her to do some messed up stuff to get results.”
“Okay. You should probably get back. It’s almost 8.” I didn’t bring up the fact that I still had an hour before I needed to be back. “I’ll keep you up to date about Logan and Juliet,” Maggie said, standing up.
