So this was a small project I did just for the fun of it a long time ago. He is a Hollow Knight OC and a member of the Grimm Troupe as they are my favorite thing, not only in Hollow Knight but maybe even all of gaming. He does have a bit of backstory.
As a wizard in the court of the Pale King, Zurne had learned the ways of soul manipulation through the casting of spells. He enjoyed a life in the White Palace, experimenting and learning more at the feet of the Pale King and White Lady, he believed there was nothing more worth while...until the Lantern was lit. The Grimm Troupe was curious to him, swathed in mystery and their circus front, he begged the master to allow him to learn more. The master agreed but Zurne had to leave and travel with them, becoming part of the act. He agreed to become their magician, unknowingly offering his soul to the Nightmare Heart. Upon understanding what he had gotten himself into, Zurne steeled himself and, at the behest of Grimm, took a new name...Aspen. Under the tutelage of the Grimm Troupe, he learned to use his talent to manipulate the flame and the realm of dream and nightmare...but he always wondered...what if he hadn't let his curiosity overwhelm him?
