You were walking home one day. You look up at the sky, just admiring the starry night. Suddenly, you can see something very tiny, falling from the sky. You raise your arms to catch it, not caring if the mysterious object might be dangerous. The object falls into your palms, and you peer down at it. It was a jar. A jar with a fairy inside it. You gently pried open the lid, wondering, what happened to the fairy, and more importantly, is it ok? You hurry home out of the winter cold holding the fairy to your chest. You burst in the door and sit in front of the fireplace. You quickly light a fire and gently place the fairy in front of it. Placing yourself down in front of it, you silently wait. After several minutes you hear a wheeze from the fairy. You jump up from your half-asleep state,
“Thank you” the fairy whispered, “You saved my life, why?”
“Why not?” you respond with a smile
“Because… never mind” they reply “Can I have your name stranger? Since you saved me and all”
“Sure! I’m Alex, what about you?”
“I’m Alex too! What a coincidence, Could I have your age?”
“I’m 23”
“Oh, wow me too! What a surprise.”
After a couple more minutes sitting around the fire you ask the question that’s been on your mind the whole time.
“Why were you in the jar? If you don’t mind me asking?”
Alex 2 sighs and slumps their shoulders. After a couple seconds they answer
“I…had a… an argument with someone and well, here I am.” stuttered nervously.
“Wow I’m so sorry, that must’ve been an extreme argument”
“I know, I would prefer not to talk about it.”
“Oh, ok then”
Sitting there a yawn escapes your mouth, and after another couple minutes your eyes start to feel heavy
“We should probably get to bed” you yawn.
“We should. I’ll sleep here” they say before hopping up onto the couch, barely taking up a cushion. You pad up to your bed and as soon as your head touches the pillow you drift off to sleep.
The next morning you awake and pass by Alex 2 their feet hanging of the cushion. You hurry around the kitchen pouring yourself a bowl of cornflakes and laying out a dozen for them while thinking about the crazy circumstances you find yourself in, when Alex 2 strolls in.
“How are you?” you ask.
“I’m feeling much better this morning” they reply as they climb onto the counter. You smile at their energy when you spot the clock.
“Crap I need to get to work. See you soon” you shout as you rush out of the house.
When you get home, you spot Alex 2, except they are taking up half the couch.
“Wow what happened to you?” you ask upon seeing them.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, when fairies enter the human realm, they start turning into humans”
“So, there might be other fairies out there!”
“Possibly, you never know. Now what’s for dinner”

The next morning, you pad downstairs and head into the sitting room to check up on Alex and see... Yourself? Confused you shake them awake.
“Could we be siblings?” you ask excitedly.
“I don’t know” they groggily answers, “but there’s a spell that if you are fae, would make you a fairy.”
“Can you try it on me?”
“Sure”
They mutter some words before sprinkling some powder on you.
“If you’re fae, you should start to shrink”
Barely able to contain your excitement you rush about your day, and when you get home and fall asleep you dream of fairies.

As you wake, you look down upon your arms, your eyes widen at how small they are, you clamber down the stairs.
“I’m a fae look!”
Alex wordlessly grins, gets up, picks up a jar, and scoops you up. Confused, you sit there frozen.
“I lied, thanks for your life” was the last thing Alex said before attaching a balloon to the jar and letting go. When you awake, you see someone, you open your moth before asking.
“Can I have your name stranger?”
