If you've driven along the less populated streets of Nashville Tennessee, you'd be aware of a lot of abandoned houses. That's where my story begins. In an abandoned Apartment complex. I was with a group of my friends from my school, and we weren't even making a Youtube video, we were just trying to see what the art inside the building looked like. That was mostly my Idea. I have a bit of a fascination with Street art. I decided to see if the only open apartment had any graffiti, and that's where I found the box. A beat up withered cardboard box. Against my better judgement, I opened the box, half expecting to find an old country album or a stash of alcohol. But I found a DVD case, with the words. "Aiko's Adventures" written in sharpie. It had a crude drawing of a girl on it. I decided to take it, and maybe give it to my brother, Troy, who has a DVD collection. I put the DVD case in my coat pocket, and I looked at the room. There was no Graffiti.222Please respect copyright.PENANAP3WJzD00gs
When I got home, I went to hand my brother the DVD case, and he looked at it, and I half expected him to take it. But he looked at it. And he looked at it as if I wanted to give him a dead animal. A look of visual terror.
Noticing Troys' apparent disdain for the DVD case, I took it to my room, and I opened the case up, and oddly there was a disc with a CGI image of a girl, in an attempt at a more western attempt to make an Anime character. I decided that this girl was Aiko. I turned on my PS3, and I put the disc in. And I was instantly hit with a wave of nostalgia. It was made by Playhouse Disney, and there were ads for several of my favorite TV shows, Bear In The Big Blue House being the most prominent. Once all the ads ended the show began. The title screen was something of a typical American Elementary school. With a playground being the main focus of the menu. There were the usual options. But I decided to watch the show, what an idiot I was.
The show was a mixture of a live action and animation. With the focus of the show being on Children in a Daycare. Preschoolers and kids of that age group. The kids were often shown playing among themselves. Doing kid things with their supposed 'imaginary' friends. The names and designs were rather forgettable. But there was one character, who seemed to be the main protagonist. Aiko, a girl animated in CGI. Her eyes were red. And she often had a habit to laugh, even if there was nothing to laugh at, or if at that moment, laughter wasn't warranted. Most episodes revolved around Aiko going to a random Daycare, getting into random Hijinks with the children outside. The adults seemed to notice Aiko, despite smiling when she talked to them, I could tell that they weren't being nice.. They were afraid.
The there were a few episodes that for some reason, I felt as if I had seen them before. As if I had seen the locations in real life. Oddly there was one episode set in a Zoo in Baltimore. Reading the date of the disk, and even based off the background characters, I could tell that the episode was shot in late 2004, it was a Halloween episode. And the episode had a more family based theme. But Aiko's family. Almost made me scream. They were my parents and myself, A tall tan man covered in tattoos, and a red haired woman, with a baby. who I assumed was supposed to be me.
I don't remember much of the audio, or even Aiko's lines. due to the fact that her voice actress either was on some sort of drug, or had an accent. But this episode, she talked.
"Don't you just love the Zoo Athen?" Aiko asked the baby. That chubby, ungodly hairy baby that would grow up to be me. "Mommy, do you think that Athen loves the zoo?"
My mom looked at Aiko, and she wasn't smiling. She looked shocked. And even mildly pissed off that the animated character was even talking to me. "I don't know."
The episode cut off there. no Credits, And a new episode came on. It went back to the daycare set up. But this one, I knew I had seen the daycare before. I had various memories of crying for my mother. And this one, It was horrifying...
Aiko looked at the screen, her Red eyes focused beyond the fourth wall. She didn't do any of the typical lost episode shit. But she looked at me, and she smiled. "Are you having fun yet? Did you honestly think that you could forget me. Mommy hated me, calling me a monster, a freak.. Now I have your attention. I will make you see why she took you from me. then you'll see the truth."
The episode showed a young boy and Aiko in a daycare, with a bunch of dead children, their bodies horribly mangled. Some kids were dismembered. Others were decapitated, others were just stabbed to death. The boy was obviously crying. But Aiko was laughing. Telling the boy that it was all pretend. And they would all be okay. But soon, a man walked in. And he looked like my Cousin Scott. He ignored the dead bodies. He took the knife out of the boys hand. And he led him out of the room.
I have so many questions, but I can't bear to ask them.
