Episode 11 - Her Butler, Careless
Master was still asleep.
She had been for hours, it seemed like, and I'd been lying with her the entire time.
Honestly, I didn't mind this. The hours past like minutes... and I didn't really want to leave.
Even though she hinted that she wanted me to stay.
I just remained in my position, watching her curiously as she turned further into the mattress and breathed softly, fingers twitching as she dreamt.
I wondered what she was dreaming about. I was curious as to if it was a good dream or a bad dream.
Sometimes... I wanted to tear into a human's mind to see what they were thinking of. Ciel's, especially, but I had known him for so long that I understood him completely. Yumi had the same soul... the same person. Similar experiences, similar thoughts.
I had been along the human race for centuries; long enough to know that many were selfish, many were selfless, and many neutral. I knew the signs that they were up to something.
I had eaten so many souls that I understood each personality, fake or real.
Ciel's was an exception.
Many times I wondered what went through his mind; because it seemed like he trusted me and then he didn't. It was also odd how he clearly feared me, but he only went to me for comfort.
An odd relationship, indeed.
I suppose I was the only one who understood what happened that night... the night I saved him from the cult. I was the only one who was there, and the only who watched his trauma spread through him.
That was probably the reason for him seeking comfort in me, even when he feared me.
I did understand him now, though. He felt he could express anything to me, as long as if he didn't look like he was enjoying himself.
This was an odd soul, indeed, but that's why I loved it so much.
Yumi shifted again, snapping me out from my thought process.
"Sebastian...?" she said quietly, now facing me. "Are you awake?"
"Always," I said then, smiling. "I'm a demon, master."
But she did something unexpected.
She shuffled toward me and stuffed herself in my chest, making my breath catch.
I gazed down at her in alarm, hovering my hand over her head as she buried her face in my shoulder.
Was she... cuddling with me...?
My... she must've been very tired, indeed.
"Did you have a nightmare?" I asked then, smiling gently.
"Shut up," she answered then, though her voice was oddly timid. "I'm going back to sleep."
I chuckled. "As you wish."
She weakened into the bed then, and I set my hand on her head, gently running my fingers through her scalp.
Though, she was already asleep, I continued the act, pulling the covers higher over her.
I liked this better.
Yes.
I liked this.

"Master, do you know where Sebastian is?" Cammie said as she entered the room.
"Shh," I said then, pressing my finger to my lips. "She's asleep."
She gazed over at the bed then, brows drawing together when she saw me lying with Yumi, holding her to me and brushing my hand down her head.
"Oh..." she said then, cheeks shading over a light pink, "did I interrupt something...?"
I shook my head.
She just stepped backward. "I totally interrupted something. I apologize, master..." she bowed, glancing over at me, "and Sebastian."
She then rushed out from the room, closing the door behind her.
I just snickered, gazing down at Yumi as she remained asleep.
I blinked and glanced over at my tailcoat that rested on the other side of the bed, and I leaned over, pulling the watch out from the pocket.
"Seven-twenty," I said then, putting it back in place and returning to soothe her. "Thirty more minutes, and then I make your tea."
She remained silent, still asleep.
I just smiled. "Oh, master. However will you explain this?"
