Episode 14 Finale - The Freak Show
No.
NO.
Another wave of frost covered me, followed by needles slicing through my every being. I kept still, holding the gun toward Charles's head as my sight locked on the room around me.
There were benches surrounding the edges of the room, three or four rows going from corner to corner, about fifty people were scattered among the seats, wearing masks of some sort... and in the center... a cage.
A cage with a girl in it.
My eyes widened when an entire wave of darkness consumed me.
The girl slumped against the wall, her gold eyes lifeless and dark, the pupil somehow missing. Her right arm had been removed and stitched with another arm of a darker skin tone. Patches of different skin were stitched to her chest and upper thigh, and her cheek, as well.
Although her hair was the same color, black like mine.
The announcer stepped around the cage. "Do I have fifty thousand? Fifty!"
A couple people raised their hand.
"Sixty thousand, anyone?"
My breaths shortened.
An auction.
That's what Charles meant... when the children didn't come out the way he wanted, he disposed of them by selling them for auction, to slavery.
A fate worse than death.
Flashes of my past burned through my vision, but I shoved them away, knowing I had a task.
I breathed uneasily, trying my hardest to stay calm.
"Seven thousand!" he called then, glancing around. "Anyone go for seven thousand?"
The girl in the cage only slumped back more, and her mouth parted.
A loud, shrill scream tore from her lips, making everyone in the room wince and cover their ears.
I just stared at her in horror, watching her slump back more.
She didn't scream out of fear or anger, no... her expression was blank. She screamed for no reason. Her mind... her mind was completely gone. She was brainless.
What did they do to her...?
The announcer only glared over at her, but she still looked lifeless. "I apologize everyone. It seems as if this one has a defect."
My eyes widened when two men came from the back of the stage and opened the cage, catching her by under the arms and dragging her weak body out.
She didn't scream or cry, she just remained limp like a doll.
"We shall fix it in the meantime," he said then, "and put her back up in a couple minutes. As of now, we shall announce our other item!"
I gazed over at Charles, the gun shaking in my hand. "Where are they taking her?"
He looked over at me, seeming way too excited for this. "Oh! You want to see! Sure! This is my favorite part! Follow me!"
He then walked forward, and we followed after him.
Only a second later, he pushed open a door to some viewing room, and we walked in.
"Look out that window!" he said excitedly. "It's a one-way mirror! So only we can see!"
I gazed out.
And immediately froze, all motions stilling.
It was some dark room with a bed centered in the middle. On the sides were odd surgical tools and broken trays.
My breaths shook, tremors racking through me.
"You see this?" he said then, making my entire form shake. "This is where it all happens."
It looked...
It was the exact replica of that night. That night Sebastian saved me.
That room where they sliced my throat open, trying to make it so I wouldn't scream again.
My eyes widened in horror, irises beating in fear.
What was this place?
